Our karndean flooring has started to shrink in a couple of areas and the process we had getting it fitted was a nightmare. Refused to lay a screed over marley tiles (70's house) saying that they would lift (hadn't done in 40 years) and insisted they would need to be lifted before the floor laid and quoted taking that into account. Once they lifted the tiles they then changed the quote to lay a new DPC because the marley tiles were the original DPC and tried to charge an extra £600 for 2 hours labour and a £60 bucket of goo. What was a perfectly level floor was ripped up and now isn't perfectly level.

We’ve got Amtico in our current house in the kitchen/diner and hallway and I like it. It’s very practical and easy to clean.

If your subfloor isn’t perfect have a look at Moduleo tiles. Moduleo do LVT strips like Karndean or Amtico, but the tiles are vinyl on a backing so they’re much easier to fit. Had these is the kitchen/diner and bathrooms of our last house and was really pleased with it. Much preferred it to the ceramic tiles in the bathrooms we have now.

We had our hallway fitted wit Karndean a few years back. We went with it as we thought it looked the best and seemed to be hard wearing. We're really pleased with the results and it still looks great after a few years of abuse from us, two cats and a dog. The plan is to get it put down in the kitchen and utility room as well when we eventually get around to replacing them.
