Hello,

Thinking of upgrading my system.

What would be a good upgrade for this lot, around £500 - £700

Intel Core i5-6400 2.70GHz (Skylake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - Retail
Powercolor Radeon R9 380 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Gigabyte H110M-S2H Intel H110 (Socket 1151) DDR4 Micro ATX Motherboard
Crucial BX200 240GB SSD SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive
I have 16GB DDR4 Ram Aswell not sure on what make though.

I play a lot of PUBG, WoW, CS and general gaming.

I was thinking maybe just upgrade the CPU & Gfx ?

if you wanted the cheapest route, 2nd hand i7 and use DX12 to take advantage of it with WOW

rx 5700 or rx 580 and off you go

World of Warcraft Classic Recommended Requirements
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD FX-8310 or later.
  • OS: Windows 7 / Windows 8 / Windows 10 64 bit.
  • VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon R9 280 or later.
  • FREE DISK SPACE: 5 GB.
  • DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 2 GB.

if you happen to have DDR4 3000hz then could jump to ryzen 3600/3500 . slower ram like default 2133hz and you'd need to change it out .

Get a better GPU. I have heard PUBG favours Nvidia cards if PUBG is most important. Anything around would be GTX 1660ti would a good investment for now and if you are looking to upgrade the cpu+mobo later.

As for your i5 6400. I would say stick with it or do a total platform change. A i7 6700 non K is the most logical upgrade. But it is too expensive for a non overclockable 4 core 8 thread cpu for 2019.
