3600 cl14 bargain

Just posting to let anyone interested know that the patriot viper steel series ram (4400 cl19) is amazing value. I paid £130 for 2 x 8gb. I presumed it to be a quality set as it’s rated at 4400mhz with good timings. Running error free at 3600 14-14-14 with all timings suggested by the calculator. I dropped the voltage from the suggested 1.45 to 1.40 and still rock solid. I did not want to pay the increasingly ridiculous prices for gskill.

Nabbed the 4000mhz version of these for a new build, couldnt resist @ £103. I want to see how tight they will go at 3733 with a 3700x. Spec sheet says the 4000 and above versions are samsung B-die, RAMMon ram program confirmed they are samsung, but did not say which die.

While waiting for the cpu and mb to arrive tomorrow the ram arrived today, so I tested them to see if they worked using my sons b350m msi gaming pro and 1600.

His current ram is 3200 cl16 which wont budge past 3200mhz at all what so ever.

In his system these hit 3600 with everything on auto, which is a good start.... I'll update what happens with the 3700x and m450 mortar max later.

Yeah I will do more tests when I get home Friday. Only had a couple hours to build it and install windows. I left it running for about 5 hours while I went to bed. What other tests can I do? Or is memtest the go to program?

I was getting errors in memtest86 at 3600 cl14. Just one but one too many. Currently at 3733 cl16 / If at 1866 @ 1.35v stable no errors. Will have another play around next weekend. Want to get 3733 cl14 if possible. Don’t think my crappy board/cpu can do any better. (X570m pro 4 and 3600)

Been having fun with this kit, as promised here are my own results.

I've not really moved on to 3733 yet as I can get 1900:1900 out of the infinity fabric/memory.

At 3800 the kit does 16's T1 all on auto @ 1.4v (have not done a run reducing that voltage yet)

With cl15 I can't as of yet get it it to boot with T1 at 3800 or 3733, not even with 1.65v.. I'm not willing to go higher than that voltage atm, maybe one day but what do we say to death?



The fun really began with step down mode... from there we go as low as this; (which is 10 mins of prime 95 stable, no errors, 1.53v)

I use MaxxMem for benchmarking, and I've not had a run which beats the slightly slacker previous run of this;

Which was no faster than its own slightly slacker 14's predecessor which pushed out the same score, which was submitted to maxxpi2.de, taking quite a high spot on the current leaderboards xD yay!

I did see slightly over 37GB on maxmem with 3800 cl13 T2 but that needed 1.65v and there was a prime95 error within 10 mins, I think it might be stable with more V, but not today.

For now I'll stick with the 16's 1T @ 1.4v 3800 as a daily while I think about how comfortable I would be with the others! With a little extra ram cooling I dont think i'm afraid of running 1.53v as a daily.

Meanwhile mine is terrible and can't even do 3400mhz CL16 stable, might be the BIOS being funny though as had XMP running with manual timings/frequency. Hate spending time testing overclocks though which is why I haven't really bothered.

Did you enable step down mode to lower timings further? I’m a complete novice but learned so much in the 8 hours I spent trying to get 14s with no errors. I feel I’m close as I get a single error.

Mine would not boot at all with xmp. Had to input timings from the calculator to post above 2133. And it’s on my boards qvl!

Yep. It makes it around 1.5T or something like that, its new to me.

I got the 3600mhz kit couldn't get it running @3600mhz though but got it running @3400mhz with out any problems first set of timings I put in worked fine I was pretty shocked tbh I didn't think it would be that easy with a Crosshair vi and a 1700x using the latest bios CL 16/18/18/36 1.4v.

The 3600mhz CL17 kit has Hynix CJR, DRAM caluclator says they can do 3600mhz CL 16 easily enough with a chance to overclock over 4000mhz CL18, according to the XMP import.

some of these low latency sets may be A2 which is currently faster than B die on intel.

we can’t be sure unless we start ripping off
the heatsinks.

what i do know is that dancops A2 settings on intel are working well with my 8 pack 3200 kit.

roughly speaking you need go c14-14-14-2T with the correct subs and tertiaries, some kits on intel are good for 4700-4800-c14 on air.

i don’t know what the score is for AMD, would be good to find out, i think it’s just a compatibility issue and that’s why i think we are seeing big variations in results with these low latency kits as some of them are running A2 and not all the boards like it.

Got mine to post at 3733/1866 if cl 14 @ 1.49v unstable so I will up the juice a little. Have to manually enter VDDg/vddp as no post on auto. That is on any timings or speed. Strange issue with bios I think as I cannot enter any value below 1v on either.
