Having never even considered the amount of fluff in the socket, I went to town on it with a paperclip. It's made such a difference so thank you for the thread.

Don't try to remove it. Take a firm grip on the jack, and shove the fluff deep down inside.

Seriously people, do NOT go poking around in headphone jacks, lightning ports or USB sockets with metallic objects.

Use toothpicks or the pointy end of a dental harp.

You say this but I always use a needle and never had a problem in over 15 years of phone ownership.

Dip the very tip of cocktail stick in glue, put it into the jack hole being careful not to touch the sides. Leave it for 5mins for the glue to dry.

Pull it out and it should bring the fluff with it.

Gel dust cleaner. Sort of like slime, only not as runny and a bit stickier. Great for getting in to nooks and crannies

Cotton bud but dowse it in isoprpyl cleaner and squeeze out the bud so it's not so stubby, then jm it in and twist it good then pull it out again.

Can of compressed air or a long thin screw, the threads on the screw pick up the fluff better.
