I'm with Greenlight.

I called them to say my car had been remapped and I'd added an extra 90hp, and there was no extra charge.

I used Brentacre when I had my DC5, underwritten by Lloyds Highways I believe and was an agreed value (which increased each year I had the car) with modifications included. Were certainly very helpful when I needed to contact them with good pricing at the time.

The vast majority of policies found on comparison websites are no good for modified cars. Most standard policies don't actually cover the value of the modifications. If you have a crash, they will only cover the cost of replacement with OEM components.

Admiral for example:

You will find that most "standard" policies have wording similar to this.

If its a modified car thats worth more than peanuts then you need like for like modification cover and agreed value.

Valid point I didn't notice the "like for like" requirement in the OP

I haven't checked but I imagine I have no cover for the actual value of the mods, but at least those sneaky insurers can't use the mods to wheedle their way out of honouring a claim :)

Oddly, Esure are cheapest for me, although i dont own anything mega just a remapped Octavia VRS with aftermarket intake & exhaust included on the policy. They did ask for photos inc engine bay.

I've never checked 'like for like' but probably unlikely.

~£200 in Middlesbrough is a steal (no pun intended) - 39 4yrs ncb.

As someone who's always had a road car and a project car it's easy to forget that most people will just go to their current insurer or comparison site. Where in reality depending on the modifications what you really need is a specialised insurance policy that specifically covers mods and in my case conversions. They are often limited mileage and don't accrue NCB like normal policies and even track cover has become an extra to those. For my current car that means an agreed value with lots of details and photos taken of the car.
