Norris P1 (for Q1). Crazy track evolution. Mercedes must have this, Hamilton was carrying many laps worth of fuel.

Maybe, but it seems more that Kimi has dropped to the level of his teammate rather than Sauber falling back.

Part of me thinks that Hamilton might have not used Quali mode on his engine to ensure no mechanical issues for his Championship crown this weekend.

It was a crap lap. Watching the onboard he oversteered 3-4 times - when you consider how small the gap was between the top 5, it made all the difference. His biggest problem will be Albon alongside starting on the softer tyre - it could ruin any chance he has of getting on the podium if he gets stuck behind.

He did abort his last lap after a crap middle sector. But was pretty much all over the place on his first timed lap.
Couple of degree drop on the track surface temperature was not great for anyone trying to improve at that point.
