There is nothing to lower. If you don't want to be screwed, run as far away as possible from Ryzen 5 1600/2600/3600. :D

You don't know something about me - I can easily force CPUs to microstutter ;)
We have a @LoadsaMoney we should name you LoadsaRubbish with your posts lately :p

Man finds scenarios that hardly ever happen and uses them as exaples. Lol

Except the console chips will be clocked so low (2.5-3ghz tops imo) due to power/heat issues that the 6 core desktop variant will outperform it. Not to mention it might have one or two cores also reserved for OS/Background tasks/recording.

The current consoles need at least 1 core reserves for the OS because of how poor Jaguar is. Ryzen 3000 is about 7 times faster and they may not need to do that to the same extent. Ryzen 3000 doesn't seem to gain that much extra performance from higher clocks as we've seen evidenced so far. So I think a 3ghz 16 thread console cpu will perform better than you expect

is nvidia really releasing 2080ti super?

I am going to buy 2080ti and might as well wait for that if its just few months away.

Jeff Fisher who is senior VP of Nvidia’s PC business said at the 2080 Super launch "there will not be a 2080 Ti Super and we are not planning one short or long-term either", Could there be one ? Maybe as anything is possible but unless you hear it directly from Nvidia it's simply made up BS to get clicks.

Also it doesn't really make sense to have a Super version of the Ti as that would just be the RTX Titan which would cannibalize their own product stack.

That would depend on the driver packages available to the 2080ti super(stupid name) vs the titan.

The 2080 Ti and Titan both use the exact same driver, Minus the name the only difference between the 2 cards is a few extra CUDA cores and extra memory, No double or single precision differences.

My understanding was/is that the Titan class cards had a second set of "Pro" drivers available. Perhaps i'm misremembering that part.

Thanks for that, I might just go ahead and get 2080ti but I can see Nvidia at one point releasing Nvidia 2080Ti super, simply because I doubt they are selling millions of full die chips as RTX titans just too expensive and specialised product and will oversupply, they won't put prices down but they could sell the full die as another product maybe with 12GB ram like the old titans.

But it will be expensive that's for sure.

I’d get one now or wait. It’s highly unlikely there will be a super, and even then it won’t be much if any different to the original apart from price. The Ti is over a year old at this point so next gen is likely to be coming very soon.

The more I think about it, the more I feel that NVidia will launch the 3080/70 and then wait a few months for the 3080ti like they used to. Making Turing the odd one out that they launched all at once.
that would even allow things to tie in with the conflicting rumours of coming early next year and delayed till 2021.

Or of course maybe I'm just fitting things into a narrative that sort of makes sense.

Only time will tell.

I was taking a look back through Geforce desktop card releases (using the highly reliable web source that is Wikipedia), to get an idea of timescales for release. They were pretty much annually, at the top tier, save for a couple of examples. top tier card prices were fairly stable too for a few years. I've given the top tier card (non Ti, Titan or double card PCB, basically the XX80) price as an example.

400 Series - March 2010 - $499
500 Series - March 2011 (570 and 580 followed in Nov/Dec) - $499
600 Series - March to May 2012 - $500
700 Series - May 2013 (Ti in Nov) - $499
900 Series - Sept 2014 (Ti in June 2015) - $549
1000 Series - March to May 2016 - $699
2000 Series - Sept 2018 - $699

Its hard to compare Ti prices as at the top tier they dont go back too far, with the x90 double card PCBs were on offer (basically 2 GPUs on one chipset) but from 780Ti up to 2080Ti it goes something like this:
$699 > $649 > $699 > $999 / $1199 (Marketed as founders ed.)

My point is that, irrespective of whether Ti variants are rolled out simultaneously as their x80 counterpart, there has never really been more than 18 months between iterations. On this basis Q1 to Q2 seems a reasonable assumption for 30XX? series.

If Jensen says we're not due new cards for "a long time" again, you can bet they are coming in <6 months. Common sense should say we will see them by/before Summer IMO, it's possible they could be delayed but i really doubt it.
