Some photos from the NEC classic car show today. As always a great show and good variety of cars of all eras.:)

Averaged only 50 miles per week usage over its life thus far, whilst I understand some super cars are not used greatly,it seems such a waste for it to be used so relatively little.

I like the half arsed attempt to display a front plate :D

7000 miles in the Ferrari this year, it gets used, not as much now the roads are getting salted however. But it was purchased to be driven and enjoyed, not a garage queen. :)

Can't fault you for it either mate, I can understand somebody wanting a supercar but to use it infrequently defeats the object imo.

To be fair, my boss with his 458 had the same attitude - its sold now afaik - use it! - I reckon the 458 has that allure to be driven! :D

Drove a 2018 F-Pace Prestige (2L turbo AWD 180BHP) to Dunkirk yesterday and overall was quite pleasant although Jaguar's infotainment needs continued work.
Why do I need to do two things to get to seat heating adjustment? I press the physical button for seat heating then on screen I have to adjust it! Makes no logical sense.
The PDC system is also too sensitive. Driving on and off the car ferry was wtf as every 2 seconds the sensors go off. They also go off if you're near a high kerb. ON a car this size with high road clearance, this shouldn't happen.

The armrest is also too far back, my elbow rested on the very corner right at the front edge when seated comfortably.

The window control buttons are on the sill which is a stupid place to put window control buttons. Also means if a window is left open and it rains, the buttons will likely be shorted.

Lane guidance is useless, no audible or vibration feedback, just a little thing on the cluster centre.

Performance from 180BHP seemed adequate and certainly hid the car's size and weight. Handling was rather good in Dynamic mode although in Sport mode the gearbox revs out longer which is pointless as there's no torque up that high and you need to shift up around 2500rpm to stay in the torque band and get decent movement.
I left the driving mode in Dynamic and gearbox in D instead of S due to the above. In Sport mode downshifts also blip the throttle. It just sounds like the 4 cylinder choking though every blip. Probably something that suits a 6cylinder engine better, or better yet, a naturally aspirated one.

Indicator stalk is angled too high up, doesn't fall into a natural position for quick usage when hands are resting 9 and 3.

There is no adjustment for the seatbelt height.

Yeah proper drivers car and it shares its engine with no other car apart the Speciale which makes the 458 that real sweet spot in Ferrari’s line up.

430 and older were poor implementations if automatics and not ideal as a daily but you could get a manual and felt proper raw but by today’s performance standards somewhat lacking.

488 and newer just feel nothing like older Ferrari’s in fact having driven them if it was not for badge on the car they could be a flagship car from another brand, fantastic but just missing something.

458 sits perfectly in the middle with its dual character of being an adequate daily but at same time can feel like a race car and that engine note and 9000rpm just makes it feel so special.

I personally think F40 and 458 Speciale are the best sport / super cars Ferrari have made and 458’s will be regarded as very special in years to come, especially the Speciale no pun intended. Of course there V12 GT cars are also amazingly epic but as with most marques as technology progresses and laws get stricter that fun and whole special occasion element is somewhat being lost.

Fair comments there. That’s the old 8” incontrol system, you can’t order that now since MY19 where they all get Incontrol pro with 10” screen and now over the air CarPlay.

PDC you should be able to turn off the auto from sensors if you prefer.

Settings for lane departure warning need turning on in the cluster for vibrate.

the V6D in it is superb though. Even better the SVR

I fully expect the v6 to be a bit of a hoot yeah!
Did check the settings for lane warning and there was only an option to turn it on or off with no additional vibration etc. Maybe it's tucked in another menu?

The 10" screen sounds much better for sure. Not a car I'd ever own, but can certainly see the appeal. Very practical too with loads of space. Aside from the ergonomics issues aside, was rather cosy too.

I had to google it to understand the placement; what a strange place indeed!
Although what's more offensive is that they're from a 2004 Volvo

Yup that's the one! Sometimes I think car designers forget some really basic things until the last minute and the team discussion goes something like

Hans: Guys.... where are the window buttons???
Gearhard: .... Erm..... It's OK we can place them somewhere, anywhere!
Hans: Up here will be just fine!
Director of design at final sign off: Splendid work comrades *signs*
(He then clocks out for the day and goes home in his BMW)
