Twitch Streaming 1080p from 1440p monitor

Hi all,

Firstly apologies if this in the wrong section.

I know twitch has a its highest resolution of 1080@60. But can you play a game on a 1440p monitor then stream at 1080?

Or it is better to get 1080p monitors in the first place?

Absolutely fine. You just set your encoder to output at 1080p. Whether you'd want to is another question as the ingest rate for a peasant probably isn't enough to support a good 1080p stream is another question.

Thank steve, do you stream? if so what res are your monitors?

Occasionally I'll stream if I'm playing alone. I game at 1440p but stream out to Twitch at 720p60 @ 6000Kb

If you use OBS you can pretty easily set it up. If you put the canvas resolution to your native resolution and your output resolution to 1080p it'll simply work!

The resolution of the stream can be whatever you want to set it, as long as it's not above your native resolution (in your case 1440p).
