I'm after a dashcam that fits over the rear view mirror and to also point backwards between the driver and passenger. I intend to hard wire it to the internal fusebox and "fit and forget".

Please can I have some recommendations?

Thanks

@bainbridge Nextbase used to have an older model that had a front facing and rear cabin facing camera as a single unit. They now appear to have a addon cabin camera that fits some of the current models:

There is also a rear view camera that appears to be more focused through the rear window than within the car cabin:

Not used either myself as I have the far older 512G from a few years back.

@Zico thanks for the reply, the ones you linked to appear to be stand alone units rather than one that fits over the rear view mirror. Having looked at rear view mirror dashcams for sale the only ones I can find with a rear facing camera have a separate rear camera unit which has to be fitted in the rear.

Not sure what I want actually exists :)

Ah yes, sorry. Completely missed that in your post.
I do recall seeing a dashcam that fitted over the rear view mirror but can't honestly recall what it was called or where I found it. Only thing I do seem to recall is that it was a random Chinese named dashcam that may have been on Amazon.

I've abandoned the notion of getting one that goes over the rear view mirror because I can't find one with an integrated rear facing camera.

What about the Nextbase 222 bundle? Front and rear camera in one unit (well the rear attaches but it's compact) for £89 in Argos.

Just asked the gf to order the £70 Nextbase 412gw for me for Xmas, figuring I'd spend some unused Halfrauds vouchers on the attachable rear facing cam.. Then realised that's only compatible with the 422gw :(

Oh well forward facing only it is then. I ordered a Samsung Evo u3 128GB sd card for £18 and am pretty sure I've got that bit right, will get the hardwire kit for a tenner too so that's my first foray into dashcams for less than £100.

Just have to wait and see if it turns me into one of those people who freaks out just because someone forgets to indicate.

continuing -

anyway - long story short - my insurers tell me that since I was the one moving from a stationary position with nothing blocking my line of sight where she came from, I'm 100% at fault as she was "moving" and I was leaving from a stationary position and should be seen her, and she had right of way.

would a dashcam have helped ? ..... her use of the mobile seems eminently capturable, equally yes I'd feel agrieved, if the police couldn't orchestreate a mobile usage check,
although timing would have to be very precise.

Got a 412GW for Christmas and hardwired it yesterday to the accessories fuse in the cabin, so it turns on and off with the ignition key. Only did a quick test drive but it seems to work well. I think the motion sensor needs putting on a lower sensitivity because it was locking files on bumps in the road.

All over the world...
Hey guys hoping someone here can help me.
Been driving for a number of yrs without any incident but today almost got side swiped by an idiot, who jumped a red light even though it was my right of way ie my right turn lane went green. Suffice to say it shook me up a tad so have decided to finally invest in a dashcam for my car. Not just today but the past few mths I’ve somehow managed to escape any major accidents due to idiotic drivers on the road.

Anyhow I digress, anyone recommend a good decent dashcam. There are so bloody many now lol. Obviously I’m going to have it hardwired into my car.
I’ve heard that nextbase are pretty decent, was looking at the 522gw I think it’s called??
My budget can stretch to £150 tops.

So any recommendations??
