Why, its not dangerous and if it is it will be dealt with accordingly. Whats the difference between that and a challenge where they "go for the ball" with 0 intent of getting the ball and literally play for the mans legs? Hes got the ball, Periera made a tactical fould and got a yellow. Seems fair.

He learnt that from Ole against Newcastle on Rob Lee back in the day :p

How is it any different to just kicking a lad off the ball?

Its just as different as body checking a player with the ball at his feet. Why should a professional foul like Periera committed be any different to any action that has 0 intent to get the ball and 100% intent to stop the player. I don't like seeing it but there is no difference in outcome so why should there be special punishment. At what point do you decide its a professional foul vs a badly timed tackle vs a tackle that had almost 0% chance of succeeding?

I saw a few on Traore for Wolves yesterday, they are getting quite dangerous and it's effectively a hack from behind. Running at full speed and then someone scything you down is just another accident waiting to happen like the Gomes situation.

Just seen Pereiras foul on Sterlign as he was breaking. Funny that it happened to the kings of "tactical fouling" but they need to start treating them as off the ball incidents imo.
But the player has the ball, so how is it off the ball? How do you distinguish between a tackle which is an overwhelmingly optimistic but genuine attempt to play the ball and a tactical foul?

If you cant tell between a genuine attempt to play the ball or the ridiculous kick from the weekend you should probably stop watching football.

Whats a genuine attempt to play the ball though? As long as there is a 1% chance you might get the ball after going through the man? Is that OK?

What about if you don't have a popsicles chance in hell of getting the ball but you have a really good go at it a take the guy out.

Professional fouls are a part of the game and you decide to take that yellow for the team. If you utterly wipe the guy out in a nasty way they can still give a red.

Pretty sure you don't get a red for an off the ball incident anyway unless, as above, its dangerous or really nasty.

People being a bit disingenuous about the perrera thing lol. Om is abrasive so unlikely to get people on side but if Pepe did that to someone there would be calls for red as he’s clearly just booted him and never had a hope at the ball.

All that said I loved it and was happy he wasn’t, I’m sure Om is the same but people can’t remove the manu Liverpool thing
