Apparently to reduce the bugs and conflicts that you currently have with adding Cinnamon to Debian / Ubuntu he is going to follow Linux Mints structure such as using LightDM as login so unless someone prefers the Mint colour theme and the old LTS kernel it will make Mint pretty pointless.

Well that was a waste of 30mins.

Default light/dark colour themes are horrid and i'd forgotten how much i disliked the cluttered old fashioned Cinnamon menus.
