Great cards from Gigabyte at some very nice prices for Christmas, pretty much a continuation from the Black Friday deals, being able to hold the prices in the majority due to the pound gaining some strength on the US dollar. :)

with £400 to spend which one do i buy?
I have a vega 56 atm and game at 1440p.

I wouldn't bother, £400 for 20% boost in framerates is absolutely not worth it. Is your 56 undervolted/overclocked? as that would put it very close to a 2060s/5700 non xt already.

2080S would be a decent upgrade although costs too much imo.

As above, there's no point unless you're going to buy a 2080 Super or above, and buying into high end Turing at this point when we're six months out from the new hot things seems foolish. There's nothing at £400 which is a particularly meaningful upgrade. The Vega 56 is still a very competent card (especially when undervolted/overclocked) and there are plenty of tricks to help it on its way if you're struggling in a game, like rendering at a slightly lower resolution and using Radeon Image Sharpening.

Prob more like 8/9 months for decent stock levels.
Not that long then. That said there are some good games coming out between now and then. Worse case I will play them on my PS4 Pro and new OLED TV.

Would have been nice to play Cyberpunk on PC. But to me if it is half as good as it looks it will be a game I complete it multiple times :)

Why not just get something like a 1660/Super? Equal in power to a V56 and you get the added bonus of VRR!
Can’t be asked with the hassle right now as not playing anything on PC. Only have Halo Reach installed and that is smooth enough, so what is the point. Right now I am just playing my PS4 Pro and catching up with the PlayStation exclusives.

The reason I want the 3070 is I want new tech and something hopefully to play Cyberpunk 2077, Dying light 2 and Vampire Masquerade 2. Those are the games I look forward to. Oh and Resident Evil 3 Remake ;)

You won't find me dropping "a-bag-o-sand" on any GFX card before we see what 2020 has to bring, CES in Jan and I'm hoping for announcements from both AMD/NVIDIA (mainly the former).

Do Overclockers have a January sale - is it worth waiting then to buy a 2080ti?

Black Friday, Cyber Monday, January Sale all same thing to us.

Basically January sale stuff that did not sell Blck Friday same price or cheaper if it’s struggling to sell.

Now of course if the pound keeps getting stronger that will indeed help lower prices further as is why so many prices have come down but at same time it could just get weaker and again and prices move up.

On 2080Ti £889 was our best and we are struggling to get anywhere near that deal again and hence why they are now all up towards a grand plus.

Thank you Gibbo. I have taken plunge and ordered the Gigabyte 2080ti OC you have on offer and linked my forum account to shop account in the order to get free delivery (why have I not done this before with orders?).

Goodbye 1080ti, hello 2080ti.

AMD gfx card and a Gsync screen @TNA Are you retarded?

:p :D

Yes, reading too many 4K8K’s posts does that to a person :p:D

Nvidia need hurry up and release the 3070

Lol

@TNA

you do realise the 3070 will be another full fat 60 series-if they dont downgrade it further to a 50 series!:p

Youll have to wait another year for the 70 Super to get the real 70 series(which was originaly a 60 class series back in the day anyway):p

Haha. Could well be.

I never gave a toss whether something is full fat or not. I just go by performance. My expectation is near 2080 Ti performance with a lot better RT performance. That would be fine for me and at least I will be at the start of the new architecture and have a decent amount of driver support.
