And this is the thing. AMD seem to be pricing against themselves and NOT the competition. I just don't get it.
RTG has delusions of grandeur - they still seem to be on another planet when compared to the CPU part of the company.
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Must admit I neglect the cash back via Quidco or Top Cashback. Just seems odd, I have had cashback before, but it seems too good to be true even though I'd had it, like how does it even work how do they all make money whilst still giving you cash back.
Right now though you can get the far better 5700 for barely 250 if you are smart and prepared for cash back route.
It's blindingly obvious that the 5500XT will drop in price once the 570/580/590's have all gone.
But by that time the card has already been written off as being "poor value", and that reputation unfortunately is difficult to shake.
Only over the past few months though.

Polaris surely has to be considered a legendary architecture given the length of time it's hung around and remained relevant
Meh. Hawaii GPUs still offer around the same level of performance and came out three years before Polaris. Sure, they use more power, but that's generally the price you pay for hanging onto "legendary" parts. Polaris wasn't anything special even at launch. Just a "good enough" mid-range part. If anything, the amount of time it's lingered around shows the utter stagnation of the GPU market over the past few years, rather than saying anything about how good Polaris is.Polaris surely has to be considered a legendary architecture given the length of time it's hung around and remained relevant
