It's a bit confused tbh but G01/G30 are (at least in electronics) one generation behind G05/G20.

Idrive systems are incrementally upgraded throughout production life, for example the G30 now has the Live Cockpit, identical to the G05.

The G01 is to the G20 as the the F25 was to the F30.

Each new generation begins with the 7 Series.

I think it's a real stretch to suggest that makes it a different generation car. There are bigger differences between a 2012 F30 and a 2019 F32 and nobody would argue they were not the same generation. They're largely the same car!

X3 M40i maybe in the same price bracket but X3M Comp? In any case those are made in the US so typically more expensive and much longer delivery time frames. One generation older than G2x if that kind of thing bugs you.

The M's are still made in the US but lower variants are now made in South Africa for the X3's. I have a ship tomorrow with 256 USA X series and one friday with 233 South African X3's for the UK market to Supervise. Thats ontop of the 1300 cars thusday from Cuxhaven.

Presumably PCP? What's the balloon at the end?

Says £22,446
Dealer depost of £8,744

Edit - so a phone call later and it turns out that deal is only on "base" cars. Which they haven't got - this is what the salesdude said anyway. So, although they advertise this offer, they don't have any cars that match the offer?!

They do have an offer on M2 Comp with DCT, Comfort and Plus packs. £9K+ dealer cont and £2,500 deposit for the same £499. Have asked what would be figures on 12K pa.

Not sure if your first figure is supposed to be £22,546, or £25,446, but at best it's a half decent deal. Base car (with zero options) can be had for ~£49.5k OTR according to a few broker websites.

Ignore the dealer deposit...it's meaningless. You only need to worry about the total of YOUR deposit, the monthlies and the balloon payment, which in this case comes to £46.5k-£49.5k.

The deal on the website says £22,446. Will check to see if that changes.

I'll see what difference increasing the mileage to 12K does to the deposit.

Presumeably things like Lifeshine, GAP, service packs are things I can try to get chucked in?

What about first registration tax?

Lifeshine don't bother...they'll do a crap job prepping the car anyway
GAP don't bother (unless it's REALLY free)...you can buy a great policy from the likes of ALA for a lot less
Service pack isn't as good as the old style but if it's free why not.
First tax should be included as part of the OTR price. Remember though this will attract the higher rate annual tax of ~£450 or whatever it comes to now for the first 5 years.

Big money to drop on really very old cars now. The 2 series has effectively been kicking about since 2011 (it's a coupe 1 series) and it really feels it inside.

I looked at these, and other new cars 40-50k list. I ended up in an 18 month old M5 Comp... PCP was £487 with £6k down. I ended up going HP though. NB - F10 also been kicking around since 2010ish!

Wouldn't advocate a 45k one of those either, so unsure what your point is there.
There was no hidden point other than the fact the F10 originally came out around the same time as the F2X. Unfortunately they aren't £45K any more either; 66 plate M5 now around £30K.
F90 M5 probably not far off that price point though.

Got my car back after having 6 new injectors installed. It feels a lot smoother now. Especially when not driving quickly. When pressing on I can't tell a lot of difference, but when slowly accelerating it feels smoother and a bit more responsive. Hopefully everything will be okay from now on. Downside is, I have a flat rear tyre. Switching the rears from the OEM Potenza run flats to Goodyear F1 Assymetric 5s on Saturday (first available appointment), with the plan to change the fronts next month. Just my luck, especially since the rears are relatively new with roughly 7mm of thread left...

My mrs has a E82 120d on a 12 plate. It's currently on 65k miles. Is there anything to watch out for on the car or anything to bear in mind? I read about timing chains snapping on the N47, is that the engine that's in her car?

She let the approved used warranty run out so it's not got any on it at the moment and I seem to recall the cut off is 60k? She mainly uses it to drive to Heathrow and back from Cheltenham (90 odd miles each way) every week or so so it gets a good run and isn't just used around town.

thats a really decent deal.

I thought so too.

Spent about an hour with my friends M2 last night and it really is a nice car. However, I just know having only 2 doors would drive me insane after a while. I appreciate it should be obvious the rear seats would be tight in a 2 door coupe but I got in the back and with the drivers seat back it almost took out my kneecaps.

So think I'll hang on for the M340i touring and see what, if any, the deals will be.

I do still like the M3 but again, it's getting on now so not sure if it's worth waiting for the new M3. Plus the 12.4% rate is pants on used F80 M3.
