Jesus, that guy must have been utterly utterly clueless. Even my Mrs knows when she's got a SW update! LMAO :D
Haha. To his defence there was no onscreen notification. Its just that when I saw his always on display it looked odd and old font etc. That was enough of a give away for me to pursue further lol.

I remember reading AOD generally drains about ~1% per hour. Over the course of a day, that's a quarter of your battery. Mind you quite like it so I leave it turned on (2XL though).

Haha, I saw that this morning. Bit harsh but I do understand his reasoning.

The phone did not mean the hype, at all. I also agree that it is too expensive, even at the Black Friday price I got it for. The full retail price is a **** take. I've not had the issues he has had with motion sense either, in fact its been great here. I use it in the bathroom with a BT speaker and skipping tracks while your hands are wet is amazing, and the 90Hz issues have been largely fixed, on the XL anyway.

So my Pixel 4 turned up yesterday from Curry's. Here's the mess when the brightness gets lower. (around 20%)

After the debacle I had with the Pixel 3, not sure why I bothered!

Are all updates installed? That seems odd. I just turned brightness all the way down on mine and scrolling long emails on dark background was fine.

I was impressed with the battery on my standard 4 yesterday. Went to bed around midnight with 55%. Phone did come off charge quite late around 11am but I took plenty of pictures, videos, surfed internet and sent loads of messages.
