Wireless light switch

Dear all

I am hoping someone might be able to help with an irritating issue I have.

When we moved into our house we noticed that the bedroom light for our master bedroom is notby the door as you enter. It is behind the door, so when it is dark you have to enter the room and go around the door to find the light switch. I have no idea why it was installed in this location as it makes no sense.

Now I could get a sparky in to diconnect the switch, pull the cable up chase out the wall near the door and run the cable down but I was wondering if anyone knows of a wireless solution. Perhaps somethign that replaces the existing switch and can be remotely activated from a wireless switch that I could simply screw into the wall?

I'm not looking at smart lighting or anything fancy just an easy way to move the switch.

Many thanks

Would you mind using your phone as the switch? If so then get a smart bulb, leave the physical switch on and turn it on and off with your phone - that'd be the cheapest way to achieve the ability to turn the light on and off from somewhere other than the actual light switch. If you want a physical button/switch then the Tradfi range at Ikea do this as well as other ranges. Still cheaper and more convenient to have an echo dot in the bedroom and voice control your smart bulb by the time you invest in a Tradfi/Hue bulb/hub/switch setup. Bulb will cost about £10 and dots are on sale for £25 at the moment.

However if you really don't want smart then I guess you actually want a wireless remote light switch like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0157MF2ZS/ref=psdc_1938304031_t1_B06VY9KWDD

Wire the receiver either by your ceiling rose (or tuck it away in the ceiling cavity) or replace the existing lighting switch with this wired in and a blanking plate then put the new remote switch anywhere you like.

Something like this. Kinda a bridge between smart and not. Works standalone.

Remote can be place anywhere.
This is definitely a perfect solution, you can use it with the gateway as a proper smart light but without it the wireless switch/dimmer still works for that light. For a tenner it’ll fix your issue.

Edit: just checked the link, this one is more suitable: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/tradfri-dimmer-kit-10435926/ as it’s cheaper. The remote does colour change but the dimmer does everything else and with a white bulb there’s no advantage.

It may be a solution for the OPs problem but people should be aware that you must always buy this bulb as and when the bulb fails and the brightness is really bad at 800 and 1000lm depending on which option people buy. A standard 100w LED equivalent is no less than 1500 Lumens such as:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-Co...00w+led+philips+bayonet&qid=1577325210&sr=8-6

Any less than 1500 lumens is not a true 100w replacement LED and my solution above can use ANY bulb and you get 2 switches. However i concede that if the op wants dimmable then he may need to seek a different solution.
