What frame rates do you currently get?
Do you have a 144hz monitor?
What resolution do you play at?
You could just upgrade the graphics card for now, and maybe swap the ram for a 16gb kit.
Is fortnite your only reason to upgrade?

I don't mean to shoot your upgrade plans down, but you already have a powerful enough pc, and with a partial upgrade (GPU & Ram) you'll be sorted.

What is the reason for your upgrade?

I game on a skylake 6600k, I've got 16gb of ram and a 1080ti.
It's more than enough for my needs.

Single threaded quad core in 2019?

Thats more than enough reason to upgrade

Maybe multi threads has benefits, but for the price to performance increase, especially with the OPs current rig, will he really see a huge increase in performance, assuming he upgrades the gpu first?

Genuinely interested too, as I would love to upgrade, but is it really worth it when the sky lakes are still pretty decent.

It'll definitely be a big upgrade, but perhaps he could wait a year or so until Zen3 has been released which will have even an even greater performance increase
