Hi Folks
My PC specs at bottom of the thread. I have
DDR3
Size 8192 MBytes
Manufacturer Corsair
Max Bandwidth PC3-10700 (667 MHz)
Part Number CMX8GX3M1A1600C11
SPD Ext. XMP

Corsair-16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 807MHz (11-11-11-30)
Would I be better off buying another pair of 2x8 to make 32gb or should I buy some other Low Profile RAM
of 2x16GB sticks....Plus, an upgrade of a 2GB Graphic card. I have this at moment 1023MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 (MSI)

I Do PHOTOGRAPHY. Lots of it. Seeing as I can not afford a whole new build was wondering if the above would be ok.
Many Thanks & A Happy New Year to you ALL.

just putting your spec here as not all of us have sigs turned on (like myself):
Gigabyte Z77X-D3H / OCZ 650w 80+ Bronze psu /
i5-3570K Ivybridge cpu /RAM-16GB PC3-107000 Corsair CMX8GX3M1A1600C11-XMP / Zalman 9 Case./Win7Ultimate x64

Would I be better off buying another pair of 2x8 to make 32gb or should I buy some other Low Profile RAM
ddr 3 is dead tech. just get the cheaper option - which would be another 2x8gb sticks from the MM
ram matching is not an issue 99% of the time as long as you're not gunning for a heavy mem oc

Plus, an upgrade of a 2GB Graphic card. I have this at moment 1023MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 (MSI)
which editing program do you use? some programs utilises the cpu more than the gpu (and vice versa)
so it may be that the better thing to upgrade to would be a 3770k instead ;)

Cheers tamzzy--Was thinking of another Dual 2x8gb Ram (same type) I use Photoshop 5 and CC + Lightroom Classic + Add ons like Topaz, Nik Software, DXo Film Pack 5, On1 Photo RAW 2020, and more.
Would the 3770K be better than my 3570k overclocked..I not ever overclocked as I not got a clue how to.

Mind you--I love my i5-3570K as it works Perfectly Great. Graphics card update NVIDIA would benefit me better but which one ? Most I look at are Out of Date. I have a 500Gb SSD and that is Good as well. Cheers

photoshop is cpu dependent
lightroom is mostly cpu dependent but gpu can improve performance
not so sure on your add-ons so can't really comment

3770k is the hyperthreaded version of the 3570k so yes it'll help normally to the tune of 10-20% on average
but if you haven't overclocked your 3570k then i suggest you do that first.
can take the 3570k to 4.3-4.4ghz with minimal effort as long as you have a semi-decent cooler (ie not the stock intel one)

Graphics card update NVIDIA would benefit me better but which one ?
what is your budget?

OK Which make of GPU do you say is better Palit GeForce GTX1050ti or any other. Do they come with a backplate ?
I'll await your answer before deciding to buy. I think this will work in my Mobo system. Just going to decide on the RAM upgrade now.

THANKS tamzzy--Just need to know about which make of GPU to buy as above. Then I'll get another 2x8GB Dual RAM same as the one I got.

I just need an easy way to OC the CPU..Are the software that comes with cards or Gigabyte any good ? Have never Overclocked and never updated my BIOS as it works good.
I shall await your reply. Many Thanks.

do you need an nvidia card?
basically for £120 that would cost for a 1050ti, the amd rx 570 would give better performance
of course if you need cuda or if your plug-ins only support nvidia then your hands are tied.

That AMD is not Low profile so not good for me. The less wattage I use in this house n pc the better. lol
Plus I need Dual Link DVI. So I think I'll go for this-- Palit GeForce GTX1050ti unless you know of a better make than Palit.
Thanks for bearing with me--Appreciated.

Hi Joxeon--Was thinking of that. But how would I know if it was OK n not ready to give up the ghost.

As tamzzy said it is more of a risk, unless it's an evga card with transferable warranty, that being said I've not had an issue with second hand cards personally and can be a real bargain for price performance. I snagged a second hand gtx 1070ti a couple of years ago for £250 when brand new they were going for £500 and it's been flawless and still going strong.
