Yay 1080p 360hz.. just burry 1080p already it was done years ago, why would anybody buy 1080p in 2020? Even at 300+ hz it makes little sense.

The hint is the E-Sports part, its for pro gamers who care about response time not eye candy.

I didn't miss that, esports has become the word for "if you dont mind it looking like crap". Imo there is no need for 300+ hz @ 1080p the more monitor companies get away with it and people lap it up the longer we will have to look at 1080p as something anybody actually wants.

I bet if you asked 100 enthusiasts what they want, faster 1080p displays or more afordable and faster 1440/4k screes that only a very few number would go 1080p and 300+hz. By now the defacto should be 1440 100hz not still 1080p.

It is not my cup of tea nor were 240HZ 1080p monitors esp TN crap apart from the very good Sharp VA panel Eizo FORIS FG2421 that was a real 120hz (Pseudo 240HZ) 1080p monitor (when that was an acceptable RES).

1080p 24" is ok (nearly same density as 32" 1440p, 1080p not so nice on 27" but 27" 1440p can at times be small dependant on content.

Ideally i do not want to use scaling.

I'm currently on my little square 1280 x 1024 screen at work. It's fine for me at desk distance for what I do at work. I don't hanker to see iTrent in ultra resolution.
I will never go back from 43 inches at 4k at home now though (which I sit quite close to).

I still use mine but at 4K DSR there is certainly a huge difference between 1080p and 4k downscaled on these panels. But 240hz still has blur unless you have some kind of strobing tech but you lose adaptive sync etc.

People only hate on 360hz when they have no real clue about why they have to make them at 1080p, Think about it logically if 240hz has more blur than my FG2421 then obviously you need more HZ so 280hz 300hz 360hz are the only real options unless they strobe and sync but thats an Asus exlclusive technology. So why the hate? Running 144hz or 240hz on a 360hz panel would be a better experience than any of the two at native as well.

If you were to criticize an element of this monitor, It should be that even the fastest current TN XF252QX tested by tftcentral still only had 90% of the pixel transitions under control. 280hz only had about 60% 360hz will probably be even worse unlesw there is a new ultra fast TN in the works? It is pretty pointless and inefficent unless you can display the pixels. It is bit like why i depise 4k 60hz because the efficency is so poor thanks to blur masking about 50% of the pixels in motion.

Its blurry as its LCD, bring back CRT as I said above or Plasma both have far better natural motion.

Of course there is no getting around it compared to my Diamontron CRT a 240hz 1080p looks good motion wise but you still see some blur and the pixels are massive you can get two sumo wrestlers in between the pixels. But there is no going back sadly i would jump at anything bar TN VA or IPS they are all trash compared to CRT.

The funny thing is i think 360hz will still have blur which is incredible, When i believe a tech like OLED or Plasma would have none at about 200hz. And that is a good enough hz for things to feel magic as well. I doubt anymore magic as i call it will be felt at 360hz i fully believe the only thing going for that monitor will be the input lag... Nothing i care about personally blur is the number one enemy second to pixelation.

And you know someday when we are old kids with high hz OLED panels will marvel at how we coped in the age where CRT died up until OLED is standard. Probably a good 30year period!

I've got the benq Zowie XL 1080p 240hz and after some fiddling with the monitor and nvidia control panel I'm very pleased with the results and its very good for the twitch shooters I play.

But from what you said sounds like the above monitor isn't for you.

You see the business of this thread tells a story - Nobody was asking for these monitors. Asus are trying to carve out a market that doesnt really exist. I watched a video last night and I stick by thinking that nobody is asking for these monitors.

For me 144hz/1440 was the sweet spot. Ideally, I'd take even higher refresh over resolution, the HP is 240hz 1440 I believe. Don't care about 4K yet, it's still too hard to push at high fps and 1080 is a bit 90's, though if I was still into spending hours hunched over a monitor screaming obscenities at German teenagers then this would probably by right up my alley.
