What games do you hope will come out in the next year or decade?

I'm hoping at some point soon we'll get GTA 6. The last GTA 5 originally came out in 2013, 7 years ago, originally I think on the last generation of consoles and then just ported to the new generation and on to PC. The most disappointing things for me about GTA 5 was we never got an HDR mode, and they stopped updating the single player game. I'm sure it would have been easier to do updates on the single player game too, like new cars, the new casino etc, as all the assets are already there.

The other game I hope for is a Mafia 4 game. I've liked the mafia series since the first one. It's always been more story driven. I was a bit disappointed with the last game though. It had many good things going on, lot of improvements. But the 2 worst things for me was the mission glitches i.e. triggered events wouldnt start properly, and also the missions became very repetative. It's been a while since I played it but I remember they would have a mission where you tried to take over a building, then after you beat them, you had to go back there and do something similar to get advancements. It felt like they were just doubling up to increase the length of the game.

What are other peoples thoughts on the games of the next year and/or decade?

GTA 6 and Modern Warfare 2 Remastered for PS5!

I don't think I would even bother playing any other game, I'd be content with just these:D

Rockstar have been bloody pathetic with GTA. Literally missed out an entire console generation.

Too busy finding ways to rinse people of their cash through GTA5 online.

To be fair, they did release RDR2 which probably took up all their focus along with milking people with sharkcards on GTAO

More good split screen games, and new stuff by Quantic Dream. Couldn't give a monkeys about more COD or GTA, they've been done to death. About time devs started doing something new.

Also looking forward to Kojima's next project as Death Stranding is wonderful

Off the top of my head:

A new GTA would be great! Providing it did everything that GTA 5 did, but bigger and better :)

I'd really love to see Battlefield return to the greatness it once was, but I'm starting to think that franchise might be eternally doomed, with all their 'woke' practices and whatnot - a sorry end to something I held quite dear on PC and early console days. If it is doomed, I'd quite like to see some sort of Call of Duty 'Pro' branch - something that will take over from Battlefield, a bit like the Ground War in the current MW; only better.

A new Witcher game...

Personally, I'd like to see the Thief games have a complete rebirth. Again these were games that were truly dear to me on the PC, and though I had some enjoyment form the console one - it had just strayed too far from what had made its predecessors so epic - becoming some hand-holdy, namby-pamby cringe-fest nonsense.

A sequel to Alien Isolation would also be amazing! Heck, the game was so good, I would be happy to except an updated version of it for the PS5 - new graphics (though the current ones are awesome), new areas of the station/ships, maybe even a mode with no Alien - where you get to play during the downfall of the station. Creative Assembly did such an incredible thing with the license, they ought to get free reign during the next gen imo.

Such as?

If BF is doomed it's because they've tried too hard to cater for the CoD audience (while ironically CoD seems to be appealing to the BF audience as well as the CoD one) and launched a game without enough content to keep people engaged. My mate and I used to put hours upon hours into every BF game pre-BF1, but they've lost their way since and it's got nothing to do with having female playable characters.

A new Doom game - happily Eternal is waiting in the wings. However, I would love to see the original games remade in the current engine. There was the classic doom mod for Doom 3 and that was brilliant but was only episode 1 of Doom.

My next would be a new Quake game but focused on single player. Whilst I enjoy Quake Champions the meta required for online play just does not suit console play (which is why it is PC only) and theres no campaign.

The original Quake (or even Unreal) in a bleeding edge engine with some modern day gameplay would make me buy! No hand holding though. Pure 'on your own' stuff!

Obviously Half-Life 3. Would love to see a Tribes release on console. I loved Tribes Ascend on PC and think it could work on console. Also a new Deus Ex.

Ultimately, though, I would love some new groundbreaking IP. Something to make me go "wow" again. Like the first time I played Tomb Raider in the Christmas of 96 after getting a playstation as an upgrade over my Megadrive.

Prey and Titanfall 2 have been two of my favourite titles in a long time so would be happy with sequels.

Edit - i would also love a single player rpg in the morrowind universe and of course a new Witcher game.

32 comments before Half Life 3 gets a mention. Can tell this is the console forum :p

The Witcher 4.
Total War: Medieval 3.
Team Fortress 3.
Battlefield: Bad Company 3.
A KOTOR style Star Wars RPG. But open world. And with the combat of Jedi Knight.

Shenmue 4 (hopefully not too unlikely)
L4D3
Sonic Adventure 3
State of Decay 3
GTA 6 (though I do remember reading that politics and terrorism are making it a headache to plan/write)
Fallout 5
Dead Rising 5 (based off of first game)
Resident Evil 8 (true zombies in first person possibly?)
Batman Arkham Next
Bioshock Next
Destiny 3
A new South Park game
The Division (set in London with varying weather including heavy rain and snow)
SSX (remake of the very first on PS2)

I'd wager maybe 3-4 of those getting made within the next 5 years...
