My current system is a i5-6600 but its starting to encounter serious bottlenecks in battlefield so i think its time to upgrade

looked at the options for a old intel chip and none of them seem up to the job

so now looking at the ryzen 2600 or 2700

would love a 3600 but currently finances are streached untill the summer

what motherboard would people recomend and would the extra £20 on a 2700 be worth it

The Ryzen 5 1600 AE First gen is £90 on Overclockers. However, there is a new Ryzen 5 1600 AF which is basically a 2600 and on the interweb I can see it for £124.67 which is way over the supposed $85 price but still about £45 cheaper than the Ryzen 5 2600 here on OCUK. That makes the 2700x £55 more and you have to decide if the 2 extra cores is worth the 60%.

As for a MB, just take this one:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-b450-tomahawk-max-socket-am4-ddr4-atx-motherboard-mb-33t-ms.html

So, all in, £220.

Actually, scratch that. At the same place I saw the 1600AF above, I can see a 2600 for £111 and a 2700 for £133. At those prices, I would certainly get the 2700 as extra 20% gets you a 33% increase in cores and more longevity unless you are looking at replacing it in summer in which case limit yourself to the 2600 for £111
