I went from a 980Ti to 2070S. I saw about a 50% increase in performance. I play 3440x1440 and majority of games are 60FPS on High/Ultra settings.

Honestly, if I had a choice, I would have stuck out till the 3XXX series cards come out, but unfortunately my 980Ti died on me so it forced my hand.

I went from a 980Ti to a 2070s and couldn't be happier. Much quicker card, better performance and worth it. Even though the new cards are due next year, this one will still last me 3/4 years so the investment is going to be there regardless.
Yeah that's it; there are always cards due out next month/year/soon. The 2070S looks like a great contender for me. Let's see how much they'll drop in price over November.

which makes a lot of sense your choices were very limited in that scenario less you take a 6 month break

2070S for me a 3440x1440 was fine for now, but felt like it could struggle when games like Cyberpunk hit. A 2080S might be more future proof (or even a vanilla 2080).

I have just bit the bullet, sold one of my 980ti hybrids and have a gigabyte Gaming OC 3X 2070s on the way. Will sell the other 980ti hybrid as well, so all in the upgrade should cost £200. Not too shabby.

I'm in a similar boat here. I still have 1 1/2 years Warranty left on my Zotac so I am in a little better place than those out of warranty. I will wait for next gen to see what I can upgrade to.

Edit: Wishful thinking
