Hi All,

I'm considering upgrading my gaming computer soon, I play mostly GTA, FIFA, Battlefield and occasionally a few others so looking for a decent spec.
My current setup is struggling at the moment and I'm due a upgrade within the next 3 months.

I want a system capable of playing in 1440p ideally.

My current spec is
i5 3570k (ivy bridge)
Geil EVO Leggera 8GB DDR3
Nvidia GTX 580 1.5gb
MSI Z77MA-G45 Intel Z77

I have done a little research and I have come up with the below.

AMD Ryzen 5 3600x
16gb Ram unsure which yet.
Nvidia 1660 Super
Unsure which Motherboard?

Any advice much appreciated.

I would also recomend the b450 tomahawk max, excellent board and it will handle up to a 16 core ryzen if you decide to upgrade the CPU in few years time.

As for the ram, if you just want something to set and forget then

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £83.69 (includes shipping: £8.70)

But if you like to tinker and really optimise timings then

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £118.69 (includes shipping: £8.70)

I believe that the B550 mobo's should be coming out soon. it may be worth waiting for those. Although saying that I have a Gigabyte B450ITX (came with the latest BIOS updated)and a Gigabyte X570 and they both work as they should.

any RAM 3200 to 3600 MHz should be fine - I have the fancy 8 pack low latency stuff (and tweaked the timings) and I doubt that you will actually notice any difference. Likewise 16gb should be fine for just gaming (perhaps get 32gb if only £10 more and if you are doing any sort of productivity stuff or video/photo editing).
