I was thinking the same thing but the latest rumors points to a launch during January/February 2020.
We might know much more at the CES 2020 event that AMD will be attending in early January.

That’s annoying. I am in the process of buying buying bits for a new PC and I was holding off on the Moro to see what the B550 was going to bring. As I have bought a Micro ATX case I will probably just buy a MSI Mortar Max.

The B550 will probably just be the same as the 450 but with a slighty upgraded vrm and a single pcie4 m.2 from the CPU and pcie4 for graphics cards.

The mortar is a very solid choice.

Shame the Mortar MAX dont have 6 sata sockets instead of 4 The Tomahawk max has 6 sata sockets but to be fair i didnt really want to buy a ATX size motherboard Micro ATX would have been better.

You do get the extra m.2 port over the tomahawk though and using a m.2 on the tomahawk will disable 2 sata ports so both can essentially use 6 hdds.

I hope the B550 come out soon as I thinking about upgrading my sons PC. Currently I have two ryzens 3600 and they are great - so want another 3rd gen ryzen.

say B550 chips are being produced in Q1. Then the mobo maufacturers need to make the boards and stock pile for a launch.

Well this could be annoying , they might already be working on a 600 chipset to be released shortly after 550.

I hope they keep the 600 for top end boards or it makes the 550 pretty pointless.

its probably true 550 boards will be the budget end most likely. so just like the 450 and the current top 570x boards. probably just call em 670.

yes X670 boards for top end and B550 for mid range - although at the moment X570 and B450 still seem fine and I don't know what new features the new boards will bring (apart from no need for a chipset cooler on the X670 and B550 I think still wont have PCI 4 but that's not really necessary).

A wider range of B550 boards that supports Ryzen 3000 chips out of the box without BIOS flashbacks would be nice. At the moment we do seem to be limited to the two MSI boards or having to borrow a Ryzen 2000 for BIOS updates.

Going X570 is a price jump and also needing a cooling fan on the MB just seemed wrong to me - I'd want a moving part to be easily replaceable.
