Shame as I'd swap to AMD if they were compatible with my LG C9 OLED. Sadly they are not able to provide 1440p 120hz VRR like Nvidia can. 18% faster in a preview version is fantastic news though, it means the 3080ti will have to shave £500 off the price and gain 20% to the clocks such as these 2 muppet companies exploit people.

Nvidia VRR is just Freesync in a different dress so it should work, hopfully they will have HDMI 2.1.

They have done so well with the cpus, 5p that these cost a fortune lol

if they are around Nvidia performance they will cost around the same. Anybody thinks different then they need a reality check. A lot of people seem to have this view that AMD are the working mans champion, Nvidia are the horrible corporate devil. They will both screw every penny they can within the business model they have, I don’t like it but that’s business.

The Hype Train wheels start turning. An upgrade from my Vega 56 or a match to Nvidias pricing structure in which case I'm out.

Choo Choo!

Just flashed my 56 to a 64 this morning so given myself a bit longer :) hoping it ends up being something good

Worst case, it forces the price of the 5700XT down a bit for me :)

I dont see the 5700 XT as enough of an upgrade, hoping the 5800 XT is a worthy price/performance upgrade to the Vega 56 but we'll see I'm doubtful to be honest

Can you expand on this please. Is this an LG or AMD issue? I’m waiting on a 5800 to plug into my Samsung Q85 as I was led to believe that 1440p@120hz with VRR worked.

Imo its too little too late, by the time its released Turing will be 2 years old and Ampere will be here, so unless it has dramatically more performance than the 2080ti (30%+ minimum) at way cheaper prices I cant see how they will compete with the 3070/3080.

Just matching the performance of the 2080ti at £800-900 or whatever wont cut it when the 3070 will most likely be very close to the 2080ti for £500 (or £600 knowing nvidia)

To expand: No you can't do VRR over HDMI on AMD cards. It's an AMD issue, it's been promised for a couple years but has never happened. Nvidia has unlocked it on only RTX and the 1660 type cards and in theory this might work on the Samsung but it varies on a TV by TV basis with the only guaranteed one being the LG B9 C9 E9 and forthcoming CX range.

I think it's something to do with HDR being tied to Freesync rather than VRR on AMD cards? Maybe someone way more technical can translate all this because ive picked it all up off reddit.

Who knows where these cards will sit in the pecking order once released.

Whats the 5700x compared to the 2080ti? 25% .. 30% slower?
Will the 5800 be 2080ti speed leaving the 5900 and the daft sounding 5950 be another 20% each quicker?
