Anything tagged as write-off, avoid.
Few people do buy them, but are fully aware of the issues and the headache to sell later, plus any potential problems down the line.

TBH it's not always an avoid. A car written off just for bodywork damage is fine, but chassis damage nope. You buy it cheap and sell it cheap. Many old cars get written off for something silly like a damaged panel or bumper, because insurers get quoted massively inflated prices to fix it.
But you need to be sure it's not one like this, where they understated the damage big time. If they lied about that they probably lied about other things.

To be sort of fair on this. What they listed would never be a minor scratch would it
No sign of airbags deployed, so its quite possible it was all relatively minor damage and hasn't touched the chassis
Personally I would be most worried about steering from that if it wasn't replaced.
But without knowing really whay happened I would avoid, its not a particularly rare car.

Jeez. And therein lies the problem with buying written off cars if you aren’t able to verify the seller’s claims.
A “very light corner touch” will have been repaired and the previous owner would still be happily driving it around now.

Definitely not. Tolerance with structural damage is comparatively lower than body. Can’t guarantee the car would crumple properly in a crash. Not worth the risk for your life
Engineer inspection = someone looked at it, they didn’t test the metal for any dislocation slipping and micro fractures.

The car might have been perfectly repaired, and is now a bargain.

But, as above. I wouldn't be paying £12k for a car that had been crashed that badly.

Lucky that you didn't get done over when buying MT66AEO BMW X1 from CM Accident repairs in Belfast as the damage in the photo looks very much more than what they are claiming. I've found the advert and you can see straight away that the bonnet doesn't fit properly over the front grilles and headlights.
