Have you considered a 5700? or pick up a cheap 1080 or something man - and no a 2080 super is bad value - the 2070S is better value, however, 5700 is the best bang for the buck. Maybe a used vega 64?

If it's just a stop gap then save your pennies and get a 2070 super

Put the money saved towards the next gen.

The 2080 Super is bad value

Better yet buy a second hand 1080/1080ti and save even more cash until next gen.

Was thinking that so do you think the 2070 will struggle to run it?

the difference in power between a 2070 super and 2080 super doesn't justify the difference in price.

i would go 2070 super it's the same speed or faster than a 1080ti. so a considerable jump from what you have now.

i would also go as far to say it would hold it's own for a few years to come and if you plan on selling it on in future to upgrade again should hold value.

Is £450 on a card soon to be replaced tho good value for money?

I'd say go second hand on the cheap. Spend less than £250.

1070ti or 1080 or even a 1080ti.

Unless you don't care about the 3000 series in which case get a 2070 super now and keep it for a few years

I have a gsync monitor that's why it has to be NV is anybody running a 2070 on a widescreen?

I am. I have a 3440x1440 monitor with a Gigabyte 2070 S Gaming. It handles the monitor surprisingly well. Even a badly optimised game like Monster Hunter it will maintain a constant 60FPS. You also have DLSS if you get in to trouble in any game, which significantly boosts the frame rate. I think if your monitor is any higher than 60Hz then I would consider the 2080S, but as a stop-gap card the 2070S is just fine. I am in exactly the same position, my next purchase is a 3440x1440 120Hz monitor even though I know in many new titles the 2070S may well not manage the higher framerate, but the plan is to get a 30XX card when they appear later this year.
Note that my old GTX 1080 DID NOT handle the 3440x1440 screen at all well. It really struggled to with some games. The 2070 S is much faster with difficult games. If you go for an older card then you need a 1080Ti.

if this is a stop gap card, surely get the chapest possible card you can get at the moment. just spend the least you possibly can which will have the best resale value unless ur planning to drop the gpu into a second machine.

2080S is way too expensive to be a stop gap card.
I also think a 2070S is too expensive in all honesty.

if ur asking which is the better value card and you have ur heart set on one of them, I'd get a 2070S if you're not gaming at 4k, if you are then a 2080S.

I'd personally wait it out and at most, just get a second hand 10 series card which you will probably be able to flog for the same price you buy it for in 3-6 months time. your 2080S bought new will lose a lot of value as its priced wierdly and its positioned wierdly too in regards to performance (not quite there as a 4k card and close to a 2070S).

£400 - and yes it is if he can sell it for £300 easy within the next 1-2 years.

used cards are going for stupid money. do you not look at prices before making suggestions?

people want £450 for a 1080ti with no warranty. even though it's slower than a new 2070 super.

On the brink of a new generation we don't know how much the current gen will deprecate in price.

Lets say a 3060 at £250 is the same perf as a 2070 super for example, you wont get much of you're change back selling it second hand.

3060 will be £300+ and it won't be as fast as a 2070 super. it will be as fast as a bog standard 2070 or worse.

performance increases have slowed down with nvidia and prices have went up.

so yeah he will get a lot of money back as used GPU prices are stupidly high also.
