The 0-60 time is impressive, but is it electric race car impressive?
Tesla claims their model 3 does the same in performance mode, and it's a road car so I wonder whether they've focused on something else..
Looks cool though!

Actually quite like the look of that - front profile is very nice though the back looks a bit square from behind and generally back could do with a bit of tweaking.

They did the same with the previous generation Leaf.

However, it's still utterly pointless as it doesn't race in any series, isn't a model that they're going to sell, and they don't even make a mildly sporty version of the road going leaf.

Would downforce have a significant effect up to 60MPH?
Enough to significantly negatively affect the acceleration I mean.

Nope, the effect of downforce is pretty marginal upto 60, there is more impact from simple air resistance (drag)
Saying that its still pretty negligable, but upto around 60-70 drag will be more of a factor, as active downforce comes in in goes up quickly
Downforce is drag anyway, in that actively using the airflow over a surface by default creates drag
Good downforce however will increase the drag minimally compared to the drag it would have had anyway

Depends how its set up. It can have an effect at low speed. There are slow corners on tracks where you'll still want downforce.

They did the Nismo version of the 40kWh model but only sold it in Japan.
