You can't in the new driver from what I can tell. Just have to set the P states to be the same. The card bios seems to have the final say though but I've never seen mine run that far off. What game are you playing and what app are you using to measure the gpu?
i am only using the radeon software. it seems random.

ill explain another problem i have first and this is to stop the next question i foresee after mentioning this. whenever i watch youtube while i have a game open the sound is then tied to youtube until i turn the game off, if i pause the youtube video and try to play the game the sound is gone, if i close my web browser and try to play the game my sound is also gone, this persists until i close the game and start it up again. ive tended to stick youtube on with autoplay enabled and the sound muted and my games will play with sound on then, the 2 games i am playing atm are WoW and monster hunter world.

so i have a browser open with youtube playing in the background (muted) and i was using radeon chill and it was locking my game at 30 fps therefore reducing clock speeds when i was active in the game (running around etc) it was set to max at 60 and low at 30. i turned that off and it worked fine but then i noticed it happening again with non of the above opened or turned on. it did sort itself out after i alt tabbed out and checked to see if i have them settings on in radeon but i didnt.

Not heard of that problem before. I can play multiple sound sources at the same time so youtube plays with the game (playing BL3 just now). Sound issues arent my strong point I'm afraid. I'd prob try reinstalling sound and video drivers and failing that switch to looking up videos on my phone :p. Did the issue start after upgrading to the new drivers?

It's been going on for aslong as I remember. The sound plays fine together. I might have to try that removing the driver thing bit I just cba lol

No I use a bluetooth speaker or headphones. Speakers on my monitor are really poor.

I had a sound issue a few months back where the selected output device would randomly change on PC start up. I have my speakers plugged in the mobo jack at the back and the headphones in the front panel jacks. I use the Realtek audio panel to share the sound across both outputs simultaneously but every now and again it would stop working. I think it started around the time I installed my Oculus Rift S. Seems to be stable now though although I have taken any corrective action myself

I'm still having problems with the latest drivers not holding the refresh rate in games. It makes them really choppy.

Back to 19.12.1 I think...

how do i set the min state on for overclock on the latest drivers?

i always find my vega 64 doesnt use the max state when gaming and seems to sit around the 1000mhz range, rather than going up to the almost 1700 i have set as an overclock.

that is due to either hitting thermal limit, power limit or not being taxed enough. if its the later you wont gain anything other than a bigger power bill by locking p states unless you are encounting stuttering due to the clock throttling, in which case locking p states can be a solution.

Its defo not thermal limit, its water cooled and not going past 45c. And it's not power limit. Its sticking to a lower P state for no reason I can see. The game is pretty demanding and I can hold over 50fps constant when its not bugging to 1ghz... but I have no reason why it would be sticking to it. I was using chill and turning that off fixed it that play around but next time I turned the pc on it would stick to that 1ghz again for no reason even with chill off. And then for no reason it was fixed.

I've had a bug where i had enabled Chill globally but also manually in the game profile for World of Warcraft. Then i wanted to turn off the global profile and everything went in the *******, until i remembered the game specific chill option. I then had to enable Chill globally again and then disable it first for the specific game and then globally. It was quiet a few driver versions ago so it might not be relevant to you. Also are you using VSR by any chance?

Still on 19.2.2 myself, dont want to install new drivers until a confirmed new stable driver is released. Still had a few niggling issues with this one, had that problem with Chill where it would keep reenabling itself when I dont want it on at all (was just testing it but didnt like it), had to wipe drivers and reinstall to stop it coming back on.
Freesync is a bit finnicky with two different monitors on (one 1440 144, other 1080 60). Sometimes freesync would work, sometimes not, sometimes stutter (can tell if its working by using monitor OSD fps display, or just seeing tearing). May buy a different second monitor that supports freesync and see if that resolves the issue but seems like wasted money.
Dirt Rally 2.0 crashed AMD drivers after 1-3 hours of playtime, tried everything including stock settings etc always crashes at some point.
Now and then my gpu profile will just randomly reset to default/stock, doesnt happen that often but I can tell when it does as the GPU fan is a lot louder at the stock 1.2v, compared to silent at 1.040v.

Small issues like this points me towards Ampere as my next GPU, never had 1 problem with my gtx 980.

What a nebulous, specious post. I can only assume that supposed to mean something.

I, who actually owns a 5700 XT, have had problems last year. I found out some of the issues we're on my end based on Windows 10 and some of them AMD fixed in later drivers. The black screen issue was a problem last year however I have not had it in the past few driver releases.

Although this has been my very first problem with AMD in several years it is not enough for me to buy a ampere. If touring is anything to go by it would be well over MSRP by at least $100.

I can't see paying more for amper when ray tracing is stI'll stalled in infancy in games. And from what I've seen so far the use of it is very amature at best. I'm not impressed.

Here's a picture of the radeon overlay while ingame.

its got a waterblock on it.

EDIT - i didnt think to verify the clocks but it seems the overlay is atleast 200fps down for some reason.
