As per the title, just noticed a large, dead rat in the middle of the garden.

I'm very squirmish and not sure what to do. So I am turning to GD.

1. Should I just leave it in the hope that local wildlife will dispose of it?
2. Man up and throw it in the bin? If so, which one; General Waste or Food waste?
3. Pick it up and sling it elsewhere?
4. Or leave it as it is and let it rot and decompose?
5. Let the dead rat own my garden and never go out there again?
6. Take GD's advice?

For those who say "pics or it didn't happen."

Mods, if this image is too much please let me know I'll remove it.

In your own words man up and chuck it in the general waste bin. It will go away to land fill or get burnt in a incinerator.

Don't leave it, it's probably been poisoned so don't want another animal to come along and eat it.

Throw it in the bin. And do it now. You don't know whether a cat has done it, or it's finally succumbed to poison. And if it's poison you don't want that entering the food chain.

Wow seriously OP! I must shovel up 20-30 dead mice and birds a year. Being a rat it might be poisoned so better put it in the bin. Most of them I just chuck down the side of the garden and let them decompose. Doesn't take long.

Worst is when my cat leaves baby birds on the garden still alive. Had to brick them to put them out of their misery :(

Not sure manning ups an option
OP couldn't even go near it
To get a decent photo lol
Seriously though
Get yourself a cheap pair
Of litter/paper pickers for future situations
Like this
If you actually can't just pick it
Up and bin it by hand

Have you tried CPR?

Seriously though, this:

Use a shovel or failing that, grab it through a thick bag and bin it.
