Oh interesting, thanks for explaining. I hadn't realised it was a perk of knowing a member of crew.

Fingers crossed for you!
With Virgin Atlantic, crew can have 6 (IIRC) people on their ‘standby’ list and can change only change it once a year. So while it’s an excellent perk, it can’t just be used for anyone they feel like bringing away on a trip. Also, there’s a limit of 6 standby tickets in a year.

Just over £130 on standby tickets to fly to New York for the weekend with the mrs. Flight loads are looking light so thought screw it. Leave for the aiport in a few hours.

Glad I went. Manhattan was completely dead yesterday, I couldn’t believe it.

There used to be a market here.

A popular breakfast place near grand central, I think there were more staff than customers.

A popular burger place near the rock, empty downstairs. About 5 people upstairs.

And feet up for the very empty flight home.

Damn lucky. Friend of mine beat the restrictions as he was going from Malta to Las Vegas for his 60th birthday and him and a mate changed their flights to get in before the eu ban came in. Yesterday the other 10 were meant to be flying from the UK but they got cancelled. So just 2 of them there now celebrating his birthday but he said last night every show they had booked has now being cancelled so its just the pool and gambling left to do.

Yeah, I'm really glad I went, I'm home now and not too jet lagged but the time difference is only 4 hours. Although it was quiet in Manhattan, it was nice to be there again and walk around. Last chance to travel for a while I think.
