WD green in NAS

I've got a WD green 1.5tb. my synology Nas 418 has one bay free so may as week fit it into this.

I believe the greens suffered from fault to do with auto shut down, it can shut down million times a year or something like that and the drive will die early. In a computer the power saving works differently so apparently not a problem.

Will the Synology Nas kill the drive quickly as well?

There's a program from WD called wdidle which you can use to change the spin-down time so it doesn't die early. You'll need to mount the drive in your PC to run the program before moving it to the NAS.

No, wdidle isn't a Windows program; you need to run it from a bootable USB stick (or floppy).
I've never used it as I only had two Greens and they were only used for backups but a bit of googling should give the answer.
