Do the V5 online. I have no idea why people still do it via paper these days.
If you do it online, it transfers the RK details over in about 3 days, as opposed to by post when it takes approximately 405436 years, if the DVLA don't lose it. It also means that if the car attracts fines/used in crime it will go to the new owner (if the new owner has even provided their real details that is - either way, not your problem)
