Back to overclocking, it's been a while, I'm looking for tips

Hello all,

I've just upgraded my CPU and set up a new water cooled loop and looking to start overclocking. I've got the following:

Ryzen 3900X CPU
Asus Crosshair Hero VI Mobo
Corsair AX850 PSU
Asus 64 Vega Strix GPU
Team Group Vulcan T-Force 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C16 3000MHz Dual Channel Kit CPU-Z is showing this running @1066MHz... I assume that there's an issue here?

I've water cooled the CPU using a Thermaltake PR-22 D5 Reservoir & Pump and a 360 Rad with 3x 120 fans. The system is currently running at 24 deg at stock.

I'll be looking at ordering a GPU waterblock soon, but just concentrating on overclocking the CPU for now, as the fan noise on the GPU is already way too loud

What sort of overclock should I be looking at getting with the CPU?

Double that to get 2133MHz which is stock DDR4 speed. You'll need to enable XMP (referred to as DOCP in AMD systems I believe) or overclock the RAM manually.

Depends what you want, either an all core manual overclock or pbo overclock?

Just ran Cinebench R20 at stock levels and got 6974. I'll take a look at fixing the RAM speed first.

Get the RAM sorted at 300MHz using XMP/DOCP, that's the main objective. Ryzen's auto-boost is most often more effective than an overclock anyway. In future, head for 3600MHz RAM but 3000 will do you for now.
