So I'm stuck between buying a new monitor or not, I currently have a Dell s2716dg gsync 144hz 1ms 1440p TN panel monitor and I'm looking at getting either the LG 34g950G 120hz or Acer X34p 120hz ultrawide monitor. I've read that this 120hz is only an overclock as well so there could be issues hitting that so I'm after some opinions on owners of either of these panels and other on whether it's worth the switch to ultrawide IPS 120hz vs what I currently have

I have an ultrawide coming from a g-sync swift 27" TN and very happy with it. The viewing angles are obviously better as well as the colours. The ultrawide is amazing and much more immersive. I have zero back light bleed on mine and could not be happier. Not sure what system you have but hitting 120hz at 3440x1440 will be a struggle so the 120hz refresh is not much of an issue to be honest. There are plenty of 144hz ultrawides available if you can stretch you budget a little further and most of them are not overclocked. I would say go for it, you can always send it back if you are not totally happy.

My monitor is a 49" with 144hz, but I run it at 120hz and it plays really well in games considering, never had the thought "na, need 144hz"

is that the samsung CHG90? if so how is the smearing on it? I've got it's bigger brother C49RG94 on its way to me and it's the only thing that i'm worried about, that is the performance of the darker shades.

I'm waiting for the benq to come back into stock It's only 100hz but I've never had a monitor over 60 so I don't feel I need 144

No mate, its a budget screen I have , but idential to the Acer Nitro one.

You have a 49inch 1080p monitor? You must be able to see the pixels!

Not noticed it mate tbh, no you mention and I look specifically for it I can see them, but its a good sharp screen imo.
