I’m not replacing mine just to get Hd via eArc audio. I tried that with the Samsung 90r it was crap compared to the 2700 even with rear speakers. I will upgrade if Yamaha release a 2.1 2700 or if I send them enough email requests add eArc to the 2700..... lol

Yeah wouldn't that be cool, guess the 2700 is just a bit old now to allow for a software update to eARC?

Conundrum time

I'm playing resident evil 3 remake in HDR

Half way through I decided to test changing the input logo because I've been getting a lot of shadow gradient banding on the walls in the game

the input has been labelled PC

then I changed it to game console and voila the banding disappeared BUT the whole image looked less sharp and I noticed that text and icons look a tad blurry

Sonwhich one should I use, game console or pc icon? Game console seems to sacrifice image quality but handles banding much better. PC mode has bad banding but the image is much sharper

Just picked up a 65C9, upgrade from 55eg920.

Great screen. As well as screen uniformity etc being far better (although this is more panel lottery territory), the main thing that stands out to me is the 120hz in gaming. This is a lot better than lcd. Nearer crt sharpness. Much better at 120 than my monitor at 165. Now I'm torn between 1440p 120 and 4k60. Will be great when 4k120 is available from a 2.1 gpu.

I just switch between the two depending on the type of game being played.

Is it 2.1 that makes this work? My CX can do 4k120 from a GTX 1070 (so HDMI 2.0b), it just can't do 10-bit colour simultaneously.

Sadly they've only enabled VRR/G-sync Compatible for 20 series and above so I might have to upgrade :(

Are you sure? Could you post a vid of this as AFAIK even @8bit 4K would need about 30Gbps of bandwidth for 120Hz and HDMI 2.0 only goes up to 18.

You're right, just checked - it's not full range. It's driving 4k120 but only at YCbCr420, and limited dynamic range. All the options shown are fixed i.e. nothing else on the dropdown. Same for 100Hz.

I don't think any gpus have a 2.1 socket either. Fwiw I've got a 1080 and when I tried it at 4k it was crap, I've stuck with 1080p rather than running everything on low.

I was playing a couple of hdr games and they felt a bit off to me. Slightly washed out compared to my previous OLED. I used the black level slide on the lagom site to test.
I am finding that when I enable g sync, the first couple of squares brightness is elevated. This is even more pronounced in pc mode.

Pc label with g sync has to be 48 brightness compared with 50 for non pc label without g sync.

I'm just concerned that it isnt really as easy as turning the brightness down to 48, as it seems it could be the curve that is effected.

Can anyone else replicate this on theirs?

Make sure you are using 'Limited' range RGB under the Nvidia control panel if you have an an Nvidia GPU.
And see the TV to low, I tried leaving mine on auto for my Xbox (which was set for limited), but when I flicked from auto to normal there was no change but the was when I went from auto to low.
