If it’s using 13gb it’s fine. A lot of that due to the nature of cod games. There have been quite a few cod games in the past that have cached nearly all memory when it didn’t need it. I bet if you took some out and ran the same game it wouldn’t go over.

If it was using 15.9gb it’s still fine. It’s only when it goes over that it causes issues. Same with vram. I had 980 SLI back in the day that literally ran 4050mb out of 4096mb at 4k 60hz and it ran fine.

even though I have 32gb which is primarily for some game servers, apps and editing. For gaming can’t say I’ve ever seen it over that amount.

More is better but chances are when that 16gb+ is actually required for gaming we will have say ddr5 or 6 so if it’s for gaming I wouldn’t bother until you actually need to add more.

I've noticed COD warzone max out the vram of my auros 1080ti 11GB !

Also with 32GB RAM noticed my RAM usage creep into 16+GB. I've not noticed any difference though in performance since I've upgraded .

8700k @ 5.1, 2080Ti and 3840x1600p - WZ see's just under 120fps

At high RES/FPS and over a UW Panel i would add the extra ram if....

1, it can easily be afforded(there will not be a performance increase for the money, at this time)
2, you have no plans to upgrade in the next 12/24months or more. (the rams not needed now but getting a matching kit is a good idea if you plan to keep the system)

I booted my cities skylines save up today which is heavily modded, it up to 19GB.

Vanilla games 16gb.....mostly fine it's when you get into modding you really want to consider more. I'd be going 32GB on a new build now, but.... I'd try and get 2x16GB dimms for room to double up.

Same with VRAM on graphics cards, I'm admittedly out of touch but Nvidia always use to ship 2 versions of some of their GPUs some with more VRAM than others, always go higher.

My 1070 is the 8GB version I've seen it using 7.5GB on fallout 4, again with mods and running 1440p.

I hate these thread's where every-one is asking how much ram is currently enough all the time and here I am it at, but for the first time though playing Warzone I've noticed my 16Gb 8 Pack ram hitting 13gb usage. I know when you get close to the limit things start ramping down.

Time for 32Gb?

16gb is a minimum. I'm currently using 12gb and The Division 2 does not like it! Memory usage is certainly ramping up these days.

I'm on 32Gb purely because of a deal on RAM on the Jungle.
2x 8Gb it for £51, thought it was rude not to pick 2 of them up, £102 delivered for 32Gb DDR4 3200..

New build. 32gb if you have the cash

16 will not see you through the next 3 years

I keep my builds longer than that, and sticks must match looks and spec wise

Huh? You can get 32 GB sticks.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £368.69 (includes shipping: £8.70)

I've had 32 GB for years, simply because both times I got a great deal on the DRAM each time.

Two things to consider, though, when upgrading from 16 GB to 32 GB:

First, the more sticks of RAM you have, the slower each stick will be. This will particularly affect Ryzen. So consider carefully if you want 4x 8 GB or 2x 16GB.
Second, not all motherboards support four sticks for some models of DRAM. So check the motherboard's compatibility list.
