Thinking of upgrading my fidelio X1s

paired with my Xonar Essence STX sound card

budget around £300 max

mostly for gaming and some music, prefer most music from my Corsair SP2500 speakers

I heard X2HR is good and cheap at £100
AKG 712 Pro is my next aim but it costs almost double for only marginally better wins (but I heard it has better soundstage)

only games I play atm are Warzone and Siege but gaming will go back down to very little / 0 when lockdown ends

I love my Beyer DT 990 Edition 250ohm for gaming and music. They are really good pin pointing location in warzone with scout mode on SBX G6.

If you can afford the DT 1990 go for it.

I don't think it's possible to upgrade x1's in terms of soundstage gaming movies music all in one until you start spending big

Bigger improvement would need neutral soudn tuned headphone like AKG K702.
Neutral bass also makes Dolby Headphone's bass bloat half tolerable.

The x2 seem to be x1 without the rolled off treble the x1 have which I like
It's just in the price range I don't think there's worthwhile cost wise upgrade from x1 yet.
Any headphone £80-£300 aren't going to completely blow you away coming from fidelio x1's i'd imagine.

As fellow owners of the STX, X1, Corsair SP2500 and as well as owning the DT990 250ohms, I second the above recommendation.

dude, WTF? everywhere I go I can never find anyone that also owns any of those, let alone all three! People seriously don't believe how amazing the SP2500 are... for a pair of gaming speakers!

What settings do you run with the STX? With the SP2500 it is 44khz 6ch HF mode, PCM, same with the X1s but with 7.1 virtual surrounds for games.

The DT 990 250ohm a big upgrade to the X1s? Even over X2s?

What is the diff between the PRO, 32 and 250 ohm versions?

the 1990 pro is 4x the cost, do you get 4x the 990 ?

Also why do you run the Sound Blaster X7 when you have the DAC from the STX?

Logitech G433 7.1 Wired Gaming Headset could be a great option due to its replaceable ear pads, cheap pricing and lightweight. Only con is that it only offers surround sound for computers and bass sound is not enough good for mobiles.
