The pop in is pretty jarring
I've been playing this evening and I haven't noticed any pop in - are you installed on a SSD?

just tried the new version, seems to run 4k at 60 ok enough but no msaa tho, i mean 2x gets it to under 48 which is below my freesync range, playable but id have issues with tearing i think. Game seems to run a bit quick like its 1.2 speed im sure the old version played slower and calmer. Still some mouse issues in the menus tho, some gfx improvements like on vito, very sharp details but not so much on other characters like his mama or sister. Dont think the driving is as good tho only watched the car drive home scene not driven myself yet, the camera behind vito is too zoomed in, could be better zoomed out to see more of ur character instead of top of his head. So far, mixed feelings, runs quicker, some texture improvements but i think they moved it to the mafia 3 engine so feels odd.

It's only 34GB, I could run it on a ram drive, its the game engine lol

Oh they removed physx from mafia 2 i think, in the original it has options, but in the remastered it doesnt.

Will see how they handle the original mafia game, i personally dont pre order, original mafia is one of my favourite ever pc games, i hope they stay somewhat true to the original and expand it somewhat, hope it turns out well, mafia 2 was good aswell, mafia 3 i heard there were a lot of issues so stayed away

Hopefully mafia 3 gets some performance improvements, it ran like a absolutely dog on my system so couldn't even play it.

I notice Mafia II in my Steam library has now changed to 'Mafia II Classic'

I think the remaster was more for consoles, It already looked pretty good on PC hence why the upgrade was free on pc. That said there is some noticeable jitter in the new game.
Restart steam a couple of times. I think it needs to grab an update for mafia 2 classic and then next restart the new edition should appear

I saw on Steam that you can re-enable it in the cfg file, but then you have to make it read-only and not go back in to your game settings.

Does anyone else have blocky looking text at 4K for Mafia II Definitive? It's as if it's running 1080p and upscaling it or something.

They are actually remaking it though, so hopefully all the bad parts of a 18 year old game will be fixed.

If done by original devs id not be worried but its hanger 13 who made mafia 3 and its gona be in mafia 3 engine so..
