I have a gaming desktop but would be nice to have a good performing laptop aswell, to do tasks in a more comfortable environment (ie, the living room)

I do have a laptop, but's it's old and clunky now. Originally ran Windows 7 and is slow as treacle which is frustrating. So time for an upgrade!

Looking for a good performing laptop that's nice and speedy. Ideally with AMD Ryzen or i5 (whichever is cheapest) 15 inch screen or more, 500GB SSD, 16GB RAM, Not sure on what graphics card to go for, just one that is well regarded for laptops and has good performance. And very good battery life (which is key) 1980x1080p resolution or higher. Budget around £600, though willing to pay more for an OLED screen, for watching movies and shows in bed. Willing to get one in good refurbished condition if needs be, to save on the pennies.

A problem with my old laptop is when it overheated it affected performance and would grind things to a halt. I hope technology has advanced enough since then to offset this issue?

£600 is not even entry-level for a new laptop with any gaming ability. OLED screens on a laptop are still £2K+.

So secondhand is your market.

You may get an i7, 16GB, SSD, and a GTX 1060 in that range, likely a 1080p TN screen.

Damn i never realised OLED bumped up the price so much! I'd be willing to up the budget a bit to get an IPS monitor, as long as it's LED at least. And i7 would be very nice. Would around £800 get me what i'm looking for?

And also a fairly quiet fan would be good.

I've used the Dell outlet before, excellent bag for buck, picked up a laptop a few years ago that had a retail of around £900 for £350 delivered!!! Worth keeping an eye out for bargains ;)

Damn i might have went for that too but it's sold out now. Trust me to get distracted by something lol. I'm sure other good deals will come up. They have a 12% discount code too on home laptops so that would've brought it down to
£834.

Are all those laptops new on Dell's sight, or refurbished?

Found a refurbished model on ebay for £880. Any good?
