Nice! I wish Overclockers pricing was competitive on this one but unfortunately not.

I've just seen that the 38GN950 is now available on Overclockers for preorder. I wonder why it's £150 more than the 38WN95C.

I do wonder whether 10 bit 4:4:4 144hz is possible over the Thunderbolt 3 connection due to the higher bandwidth, even if the displayport can't achieve it.

I don't know of any GPUs that can output via thunderbolt 3 though. I do wonder whether we might see a displayport 2.0 -> thunderbolt 3 adapter in the future to make the most of it.

If it is advertised as 144Hz AND HDR10, but cannot do HDR10 at the stated refresh rate, it is deliberately misleading. It's as simple as that.

I'm annoyed at LG's scummy marketing and refusal to even have what you can and can't do in the small print.

It does do 10 bit @ 144hz though...Just not 4:4:4.

As good as useless then. Still not mentioned anywhere in the marketing specs.

I think you're being a bit extreme. Useless? Window's implementation of HDR is terrible. I don't know why anyone would be buying this for monitor specifically for HDR (it has so much else going for it)..Especially it being HDR600, a very sub-par experience. Any regular 4kTV w/ HDR would do a much better, maybe you should look at those.

Maybe 120hz is the mode for you.

3840 x 1600 10bit(RGB444) @ 120 Hz
3840 x 1600 10bit(YUV422) @ 144 Hz
3840 x 1600 8bit(RGB444) @ 144 Hz

I am not. I don't actually care for the HDR itself, I care about 10bit because it helps to reduce colour banding significantly. A fact which I pointed out on the last page already.

Again, I know 120Hz works with 10bit. Again, I'm annoyed at LG for not being upfront with this limitation in marketing. For the price I will absolutely be a 'bit extreme' about this, especially when they're including DSC in their 4k model to overcome this, but won't bother doing anything for the UW.

I don't really want to pay well over a grand for this display just to have them refresh it again in a year or so and actually implement the DSC that they should've done in the first place. The colour banding improvements are worth it.

Contrast Ratio 700:1
Wow - that is pretty terrible! - and I say this as someone who has pre-ordered it.
I know IPS aren't great for contrast, but most are 1000:1 is pretty normal and this is a high-end 2020 model...
[edit] somewhere else quotes it as Contrast ratio (typical): 1000:1 [/edit]
