Bit of advice needed

A friend is looking to upgrade his build and use existing components to do so, but has set me a budget and some "would likes"... I'm hoping your expertise could point me in the right direction, as I have a tendency to exceed budget and go overkill.

After his new monitor, I will be left with £1300 to get the following:
- CPU (wants an i7)
- Mobo
- GPU (wants a 2080)
- RAM

Everything else he has, and can be re-used.... please spec me

Edit: sorry to add, this will all be in an NZXT H440 case.

For gaming? Is that why he’s set on an i7? Even if that’s the case I’d try and persuade him to go for a Ryzen as there’s far more bangs for the buck.

Are there heat issues with the Ryzen CPUs ?

Not that I’m aware off. I run two 2700s and have never had any problems.

Purely for gaming, he lives and breathes Arma and DayZ but will be playing games like that.

His preference is i7 purely from a point that he's always had one, but I will bend his ear about the Ryzen and see if I can persuade him.
