Most of the people in the Trump thread would side with Xi Jinping over Trump even though he has appointed himself dictator for life and been throwing his citizens into camps just because they're Muslim.

I'm sure if he had any the Democratic supporting corporate media would be giving us 24/7 coverage and it doesn't make much sense to be launching a trade war against a country where you have assets, do you really think if he does the Chinese communist regime don't know about it and won't pass the information on?

On the other hand Joe Biden's son has received some big payouts from the bank of China but like Obamagate and his Ukraine dealings don't expect the corporate media to talk about it.

I didn't ask if he did, I asked if his family did.

The problem with social media platforms is unlike "publishers", as "platforms" for public discourse they received immunity from litigation for what was posted on their platform. Yet, as time has gone on they have become more and more like publishers, they can't have it both ways. If they want to act like publishers then fine but take away the immunity from litigation that was given to them when they didn't have armies of editors controlling public discourse like something out of Communist China.

China is going to destroy HK. It had a very different culture and society than the rest of China and much more freedoms. But that's over now. Just another region in a huge, oppressive dictatorship.

Bloody hell, Boris Johnson in sensible policy shocker!

LONDON: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday reiterated the UK's plans for some of the “biggest changes” to the country's visa system in order to allow around three million Hong Kong nationals a path to British citizenship if China does not back off over a new controversial national security law.

Writing in ‘The Times', the UK prime minister said the offer would be triggered only if China presses ahead with the new law which threatens to strip the former British colony of its traditional freedoms.

An estimated 3,50,000 Hongkongers hold British National (Overseas) passports and another 2.5 million would be eligible to apply for them. At present, these BNO passports only allow visa-free access to the UK for up to six months.

“If China imposes its national security law, the British government will change our immigration rules and allow any holder of these passports from Hong Kong to come to the UK for a renewable period of 12 months and be given further immigration rights, including the right to work, which could place them on a route to citizenship,” writes Johnson.

The Lefties must be bluescreening right now.

On one hand it’s another 3.5m outsiders, and Lefties know that outsiders are far easier to turn against the natives. But on the other hand, these immigrants have seen communism up close, so might be highly resistant.

Quite the pickle.

Ok but where are we going to house an extra 3 million people if they do decide to come?

Sounds like he has great herd immunity plans, let the elderly and those of relatively poor health die of COVID-19 and then replace the population drop with Hong Kong immigrants that will pay their taxes.

Or once again the lower income UK born nationals will be kicked in the teeth, unable to get on the housing ladder and forced to pay astronomical rents until the day they drop dead.

You can now be arrested and jailed (potentially for life) as a foreign citizen when you visit HK for anything anti-regime you have ever said or written anywhere in the world, as per article 38 of the new national security law. Nice.

Sounds good to me.

How many buggered off from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan to europe?

1.3 million in 2015 alone apparently!

Yes and most of those didn't even have a legit reason of legal entry and they still got to stay.

If we say to HK 3 million of them can come over, a lot will come. Especially now China is ******* them over. The up is there isn't a massive cultural and moral rift between UK and HK culture.
