Hi All,

I have just had a custom designed study built ready for a serious two station setup.

The secondary station will be home to my wife's Dell XPS 13 (9360), monitor, keyboard and mouse.

I am after a 32" or 34" ultra wide display for this setup that can support the "single cable life" by delivering power, audio, visual, data and potentially Ethernet (if the monitor has it). The Ethernet isn't essential as we have a WiFi 6 at home (Asus AX88U) and an Intel WiFi 6 module in the XPS but it would be handy to have nevertheless.

I was looking at the Samsung CH89 however I cannot find much in the way of reviews on it.

The main setup will be built later in the year and pending more reviews will be centred around the new 49" Odyssey G9.

Am looking for something similar myself at the moment. There's not a lot to choose from but I'm guessing your wife isn't looking for something with gaming in mind. You've not mentioned a budget and if you're looking for a more cost effective solution it may be better to buy a decent monitor and then a separate USB-C docking station that you could perhaps mount out of sight.

For the size you've stated I'd look at one of these 4K displays, for less emphasis on gaming or multiscreen productivity:
Dell Ultrasharp Monitor, DELL-U3219Q

Personally I've been looking at something like this as a minimum (3840x1200) to get the equivalent of 2 16:10 displays in 1 for increased productivity:
Samsung LC43J890DKUXEN 43"

other smaller resolutions to consider:

LG 34WN80C

or
LG 38WN95C

If you want the cheaper route with a separate docking station then I'd look at one of these which I don't think you can beat for value:
Iiyama G-MASTER GB3461WQSU-B1 34"

You also need to research whether the laptop can be charged over USB-C and what wattage it requires as not all monitors deliver the same power delivery wattage over USB-C. Not all of these will have a KVM switch built in either so if hooking up one lot of KB and mouse is also important then check it has that too.

Thanks so much for the information, I think I have settled for the LG38WN95C as it seems to tick every box I am after with the exception of a KVM.

However I will probably look to get a WIFI and Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse setup so I can switch between two computers anyway.

With regard to the laptop it has USB C and Thunderbolt 3 and so I am pretty sure it supports charging and the monitor can deliver between 90-95w so that should be perfect.

No worries, quite tempted by one of these myself instead of a G9 but waiting to see how big Navi compares since I think this is stronger on the Freesync side of things than G-Sync.
