If you are going to spend £850 i would definitely just spend the extra £50 and get the lenovo legion 5p for £900.

Its is one of the best if not the best ryzen laptop atm and getting something lesser for the sake of £50 just isnt worth it in my eyes.

Hi mate, I only have a few places i can purchase from so can pay direct debit for a year and the lenovo with amd isnt there unfortunately, plus i prefer the looks of the acer and msi laptops etc and also they have bigger ssds.

I have also pushed the budget and dont wont to spend any more, is the cpu i listed the 10th gen i5 10300 a good cpu and with the 1660ti be a good combo.

Appreciate the info and totally understand where your coming from

The 10300 is a quad core with hyperthreading, it will be OK for games atm but if you are intending to keep it for a few years as you say I feel a 6 or 8 core would be a better investment.

Also ram and storage can be upgraded during the machines lifetime so I would put more importance on the cpu and gfx card at time of purchase.

So the amd is the better processor i am trying to find some good deals, found this but price is obviously a little higher at £999

15.6 Inch Full HD 144 Hz Gaming Laptop (AMD Ryzen 7 3750H, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti 6 GB, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD, Windows 10), Brushed Black

Os it the ryzen 5 or 7 thats i should be looking for ?

Yeah seems to be mate.

I have found this
Asus
Asus TUF FA506IU 15.6" Gaming Laptop - Metallic Grey
  • Dedicated GeForce® GTX 1660 Ti 6GB graphics
  • AMD Ryzen 5 4600H quad core processor
  • 8GB of DDR4 RAM delivers seamless multitasking
  • 512GB SSD offers loads of storage & super-fast loading
  • Multiple cooling systems ensure optimum performance
Is the ryzen 5 as good as 7 and better for multitasking etc and gaming as lomg at the next set of numbers is 4000 ?

Thanks Dean

The 4800h and 1660ti will be great for rts games at 1080p and if thats mainly what you play then the 60hz screen wont be much of an issue like it would be if you were playing fast paced first person shooters.

The ryzen r5 3550h and r7 3750h are both 4 core 8 thread cpu's and the 3000 series has lower ipc than intel chips and the 4000 series ryzen chips.

The r5 4600h is a 6 core 12 thread cpu and r7 4800h is a 8 core 16 thread chip and they have similar ipc to intel chips.

The i5 9300 / 10300 are 4 core 8 thread chips and i7 9750 / 10750 are 6 core 12 thread chips with similar ipc to ryzen 4000 but usually have higher max turbo speeds.

I hope this helps.

So the amd r7 4800 seems to be best and will certainly look for that , thanks so much for that info very helpful, really like the look of the asus

AsusROG Zephyrus GA502DU-HN100T Laptop - 15.6in Full HD 144Hz, GeForce GTX 1660TI 6GB, AMD Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD - Black

However thays closer to the £1000 like you say the lenovo legion with the r7 and the 2060 is the best deal at £899 but cant pay over a few months.

Think its out of the asus zephyrus and the hp what you think mate

The laptop seems great so far mate looks great as very fast been playing AOE 2 definitive edition and working perfect.

The keyboard has a bit flex near the right side near the enter key etc i suspect nothing below it so alows a bit flex check the ones at work of you dont mind to give me peice of mind. Its not a issue i am just very picky but apart from that loving it.

There is a small amount of flex in the keyboard of the one in my work, my A15 has a bit of flex also, most gaming laptops i have tried all have a bit of flex unless they have a metal frame.

The 2.5" drive bay is located near the enter key so if it is empty maybe that could be why there is flex although ours had a fake plastic hd in the bay before i fitted a drive in it.

The flex is of i press to the right of the # key not the key itself vut the board below the keys try the one at work see if a little flex but overall very impressed thanks so much for the help

i'll try it tomorrow and see.

Not sure of the cooling layout of the 1660ti model as i'm sure it will be different to the 1650 model though and may make a difference.

I’ve just had a look at ours and there is indeed more flex around the # key area than anywhere else on the keyboard.

it’s not excessive though and I’m not worried about it on ours.
