Strongly suggest starting to look at some stretches/rehab exercises - the older we all get, the harder it is to recover from small injuries/niggles etc.

try looking for a few exercises etc to do whilst not running, also a good physio will help massively with recovery. I know when I tore my Vastus Medialis, he diagnosed it, gave me exercises to recover and also did some ultrasound etc. Sped things up no end.

I go to see a physio once every 3/4 months or so just for the once over and get a sport massage. I do a lot of crossfit but I also sit at a desk 8-10 hours a day so a little TLC is well worth while.
Yeah that’s probably some good advice, sometimes we forget we’re not indestructible, that’s something I will look into once we’re released from tier 3 up here in the north, luckily the gyms open again next week, I will get my ass on the cross trainer if it feels ok, it’s a strange one with some movements it feels like it’s the top of my hamstring and with others it feels like it’s the bottom of my glute, might see if I can convince the wife to give me a bit of a massage :p:p:p

Get a tennis ball. Put it on the ground and sit on it, with the tennis ball effectively massaging your injured area... roll yourself over it until you find the point of unbearable pain... and hold it for about 20 seconds :)

yeah - Better with a hockey ball/baseball if you can - firmer and REALLY gets into the muscle!

OP, please don't follow this advice until you know exactly what your injury is. You could make it worse if you blindly follow this advice.

What's everyone like at Christmas? Do you indulge in all manner of goodies and put weight on and not bother about it?

Two months since my last post, I have been stuck on 79-80kg for all that time. Only this past week is it nudging to 78kg or less. Hence my Christmas comment above, I'm likely to put about 5kg back on once the mince pies and brandy cream start appearing.

To be honest that's incredible progress considering you were around 100kg earlier in the year. I actually had to go back and re-read as i always thought you were similar to me at around 95-100. However i'm still at that level and you've flown. Although my goal weight is around 85-90 anyway. I think i'd look stupid below that being 6'3.

I think it's beneficial to be mindful, but it's a time for enjoying life, and any quick increase in weight should fall off pretty quickly aswell.

I have absolute zero muscle, so around 68kg is my natural weight. New Year's resolution is to start doing some strength training though. My waist (can squash into 36" jeans now!) seems wider than my shoulders so my body is out of all proportion.

I've dropped from 250lbs down to 230lbs since August, plan is to stick on track mostly. I have a cheat meal/looser day at the weekends anyway but Christmas day/Boxing day it'll be all hands on Christmasy goodness.

Gym is 24 hour so they'll be no funny hours over the Christmas/NY period so I'll still be able to get some weights/cardio in to keep me ticking over.

I feel like I have two good days of diet, then one horrible day, but I'm keeping the exercise at a pretty good level although cycling mileage is going to suffer with how cold it is and how early it gets dark now. I think come Christmas I will kind of let myself lose on the cake and cookies... I'm confident I can get it back off again when necessary.

Getting an online coach onboard has definitely stopped this cycle for me, I used to be exactly the same keep it clean for a couple of days/a week and then there'd be a bit of a blow out but being accountable to someone else definitely makes it much less likely. It is an added cost and generally not for everyone though.

Interesting, i've considered something like that a few times, mainly for running as i think if i was accountable i'd do a lot more speed/hill sessions and generally have more structure but some of the costs seem to be around £200/mth plus, and that's always put me off.

Do you mind me asking what you pay?

No where near that  I paid £350 for 20 weeks but I suppose if you're looking at specialised running coaching they may be more expensive.

Ah i suppose that's not too bad, i think the ones i was looking at were running/fitness coaching too, so some strengthening work aswell.

My wife subscribed to something called Noom which i think is about £30 a month which seemed quite good for her at the time.

That's a great feat. How did you do it?

I have Coeliac disease so I have to avoid most easy temptations anyway. I was 15 stone 8 lbs snacking on crap with bad skin and a fast heart rate lol. Main things for me have been....

Bulletproof coffee for breakfast every day. I totally love this, game changer for me as I used to love loading up on crap cereals and toast and would be starving by lunch.
Banana omelette for lunch everyday with extra nuts, cinnamon, ginger and collagen powder. I load it up with healthy stuff and never eat bread.
Main meal about 6pm usually good quality meats with salad or veg.

I totally love it and my health has sky rocketed since starting on the 27th April. I am trying to eat organic meat and veg as much as I can as well.

Also been doing cold showers 5 times a week, walk 3 miles everyday without fail and Wim Hof breathing (up to 4 minutes 10 seconds holding my breath now).

Taking extra supplements as well for my Coeliac.

I have just ordered one of these now to do some muscle building and toning at home https://www.jaquishbiomedical.com/x3-bar/

I am 45 and never felt or looked better.
