New iPad with apple TV+ - how to stream to TV?

Clicking the 'airplay' button allows me to select my sky Q box but only plays the audio, apparently you can't airplay video to sky Q boxes?

Is this true? Is there anything I can download on my Sony Smart TV to allow me to stream from an iPad? I couldn't find an 'apple tv' app on the TV's play store.

You need AirPlay capabilities on your TV. The Apple TV app is like Netflix or Amazon Video - it doesn’t imbue your TV with Airplay unfortunately.

Ah gutted, doesn’t look like the tv or sky box have the app!

I’ll check the PS4 I’d imagine that does. Thanks.

If playing on google chrome browser, you can cast to a chrome cast connected to your TV. I don't know if the ipad will try and switch to apple TV app though, and not let you watch through browser.

If all your trying to do is play Apple TV+ content then just use the Apple TV app on the TV.

Not all smart TV's have the apple TV app

You can get the Apple TV+ app on the various Amazon Fire devices and other platforms, https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/tvplus/welcome/web. Didn't realise this until I saw the Apple TV+ offer with new devices.
