Top man, thanks :)

Soooo... I have the diagnostic, sadly it is not good :(

"It's unlikely that that's repairable. He's most likely shorted a power rail, which means that not only are the regulators fried, but also power rail tracks which could be on internal layers are also burnt through. The card is well and truly fried."

It seems that is probably botched for good.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, and also the condolences!

Its on eBay now. There isn't anyone around where I live (North Devon) that I know who could attempt to fix it.

I'm a very impatient individual and blindly thought I could fix it myself. As some have said, expensive lesson learnt!

I don't feel so bad about bending the pins on my USB 3 internal header now.

Cheers for sharing the laugh mate, glad you can laugh it off :) I did something similar with motherboard pins a few years back.

Another vote for house insurance. I once accidentally stepped on my Titan Xp and bent the card, PCIE connector that goes into the motherboard wasn’t straight, but arched.

I was completely honest, submitted a claim online and photos, got a call within 3 hours asking some questions and day after got a payout minus my excess.

If your house insurance has accidental damage then you go through that and pay the excess. If it were something like an iphone or macbook that are much more commonly repaired and known inside out by pro repair shops, you would have a chance even on majorly burned PCBs like that. But with it being such a new specialist item I can't see that having a high chance of being repairable. Some of the required replacement parts may not be readily available at economically viable prices as well. No repair shop is going to have donor 3090s lying around either.

Why did you try to reattach them with a MIG welder?

this was my first thought too lol.

That’s a very upsetting picture, kudos for your attitude.

it’s hard to tell exactly what’s happened under that mess, but if it isn’t as bad as it looks it’s not out the realm of possibility that someone handy with repairing traces and a slightly more.... delicate... soldering ability may be able to rescue it.

You mean using a TIG welder instead? :D

Absolutely brutal.

I built a new system over Christmas with a 3090 and there was some nerves that I didn't botch it and break something due to what I spent, even though it wasn’t doing anything as advanced as this.

Gutted for you - even worse that you waited a long time for it, no laughter at you from here.

Maybe you could buy another broken card of this type and ask somebody to make 1 working card out of 2 broken ones.

It is still risky, but better than losing the full amount.

Oh well, that's a shame. But thanks so much for trying for me, I really appreciate it. Botched being the operative word!
