WD Blue strange spin down sound

Hello,

I usually don't mind the hard drive sounds (actually quite like them) and I don't mind the current sound my WD blues are making but I'm not sure if it sounds "safe" and was wondering if I could just be reassured it's fine or you know it needs a replacement.

Bought two of these a week or two ago and they make the identical sound when it spins down which makes me think it's not a problem.
They are the WD 2TB Blue 5400 RPM (20EZAZ)

Do you have them mirrored. Not that it will explain the noise but it should give you something to ease your failure fears.

If they both do it, then chances are it's just how they sound.

All of WDs SMR drives seem to do it. I RMAed a 6TB one because of that noise and the replacement is the same. Very disconcerting sound isn't it.. like metal grinding.
